Sad news for Chelsea Frei and Catherine Cohen fans…

It was recently revealed that their upcoming new TV series While You Were Breeding is no longer happening at Freeform, according to Deadline.

The upcoming comedy getting scrapped at the network is seemingly a direct result of the writer’s strike.

While the series had filmed all ten episodes of it’s first season, they stopped post production when the writer’s strike started, months ahead of it’s tentative August 2023 premiere.

This isn’t the end though, as it is being reported that the producers of the show could have the option of shopping the show to another network.

While You Were Breeding is written and executive produced by Kristin Newman, and it’s based off of her memoir of the same name.

The writers strike has shut down a slew of TV series. Behind the statistics, there is a lot of heartache as every show is someone’s creation and every suspension affects a lot of people involved in it.

Veteran comedy showrunner Kristin Newman lifted the curtain on that side of the process in an emotional Facebook post Saturday announcing that her upcoming Freeform series, While You Were Breeding, has shut down post-production. Knowing that it was “the right thing to do” to make the strike “as short as humanly possible” did not make the decision less painful, Newman admitted. She also acknowledged “Freeform, who chose to do what this entire strike is about — value the voice of the writer/creator.”

While You Were Breeding is coming to Freeform. The cable channel has ordered the new dramedy which will follow a thirtysomething woman who is single for the first time and decides to escape her fast-paced life and see the world. It is based on the memoir of Kristin Newman. Chelsea Frei, Catherine Cohen, Alice Hunter, and Kosha Patel will star in the one-hour series.

Single Drunk Female will be back for another season!

Freeform has renewed breakout comedy starring Sofia Black D'Elia and Ally Sheedy for a second season.

Additionally, the cabler ordered wanderlust dramedy While You Were Breeding, based on the memoir from Kristin Newman (Only Murders in the Building), to series.

Single Drunk Female is returning to Freeform alongside new YA dramedy series While You Were Breeding.

The Disney-owned youth-skewing network has handed the Sofia Black-d’Elia- and Ally Sheedy-fronted series a second season after performing well for the network on linear and digital.

Single Drunk Female follows 20-something alcoholic Samantha Fink (Black-d’Elia) who, after a public flame-out at a New York media company, is forced to seize the only chance she has to sober up and avoid jail time: moving back home with her overbearing mother, Carol (Sheedy). Back in Greater Boston, Samantha sets out on a path to move past her worst self and figure out her best self. Kinda.

“Single Drunk Female” is getting a Season 2.

Freeform announced the renewal of the series, which stars Sofia Black-d’Elia and Ally Sheedy, on Tuesday morning.

The cable network has also picked up “While You Were Breeding,” a dramedy, to series. “While You Were Breeding,” is based on the memoir from Kristin Newman.

Here’s the logline for the new show: “‘While You Were Breeding’ follows Kacey, single for the first time in her 30s, as she escapes her fast-paced life in Los Angeles to see the world.
