That's the question at the heart of Mad Genius, a sci-fi film that's described as The Matrix meets Mr. Robot. And the answer to the question, apparently, is yes, if you are to believe the film's protagonist.

Exclusive: Tricoast Worldwide has boarded sales on Zoe Hopkins’ family adventure drama Kayak To Klemtu. The debut feature screens in the market on May 12. Hopkins is a Canadian Heiltsuk/Mohawk filmmaker who co-wrote the picture with Michael Sparaga. The story follows 14-year-old Ella (Ta’kaiya Blaney) on a journey to fulfill her Uncle David’s (Evan Adams) dying wish — to kayak to the remote island of Klemtu and to testify to protect their ancestral land from an oil pipeline. Ella is prepared for the hardships of the trip, but her biggest challenge will be with the mercurial family members who accompany her on the adventure. The movie has played several festivals already and won the Best Canadian First Feature at the Victoria Film Festival. Producers are Sheryl Kotzer and Daniel Bekerman of Scythia Films.

In the first of todays FrightFest 2017 interview, host Stuart Wright talks to writer/director Royce Gorsuch, whose film Mindhack has its European Premiere at this years Frightfest on Friday August 25th.

A brilliant scientist is on a mission to hack the human mind to save humanity from its own catastrophic errors and is pushed to do whatever is necessary to complete the assignment. An extraordinary visionary experience about the inner conflicts of being a culture-jamming creator, director Royce Gorsuch’s kaleidoscopic mindbender is an astonishingly visual tour de force about the cacophony of voices in our heads pushing us, confusing us, mixing signals, the ego, reason, and the mistaken evils which might come from accomplishing the goal. An inner space odyssey through reconciliation, forgiveness and self-sacrifice for the greater good.

The Horror Channel Frightfest takes place August 24th – 28th 2017 at both the Empire Cinema and Prince Charles Cinema in London’s Leicester Square.

With only four weeks till the start of the festival, Frightfest organisers have announced not only some of the guests set to appear over the August Bank Holiday weekend, but also the addition of another film to the line-up! The 150 plus guest-list this year is as vibrant and eclectic as ever, with nearly 40 of the films represented… New to the film line-up is Jackals, Kevin Greutert’s potent blend of horror thriller, home invasion terror and murder cult chiller, which stars Stephen Dorff and Deborah Kara Unger. The film is scheduled for Saturday 25th August, 4pm and 4.30pm in the main screens at the Cineworld Leicester Square.
