We pledge allegiance to Poguelandia.
John B (Chase Stokes) and the “Outer Banks” crew are back in Netflix’s first teaser for the series’ third season, and it seems they’ve finally found some peace on an island they call Poguelandia. The sky is so blue that it’s almost turquoise, the sand is soft and it looks like the gang has set up their own little sun-soaked world far away from Ward (Charles Esten), Rafe (Drew Starkey) and the Sheriff’s Department.
But, of course, nothing is as it seems. Soon, the trailer heats up, showing Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kie (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and JJ (Rudy Pankow) running away from wild dogs and participating in car chases as they continue to search for treasure. There’s also lots of fighting, including with Ward and Rafe, and the return of Cleo (Carlacia Grant) and John B’s resurrected-from-the-dead father,...

The Og Jsa — including The Flash aka Jay Garrick — gather for the most somber of occasions in this exclusive sneak peek from DC’s Stargirl.
In this week’s episode (airing Tuesday at 8/7c on The CW), when Eclipso (played by Nick Tarabay) takes aim at the Whitmore-Dugans, Pat (Luke Wilson) is reminded of painful memories from his past involving the original Jsa and their fight to take down the super-evil demon.

The latest superhero adaptation is the upcoming Stargirl, based on the DC Comics character and coproduced by DC Universe and The CW. Stargirl might not be as familiar a name as some of the other heroes adapted for the small screen, so here's what you need to know about the new series before it launches in early 2020.
Like many superhero series, the premise of Stargirl kicks off with a young person discovering a world of superpowers that she never knew existed. In this case, that young hero-to-be is Courtney Whitmore (played by Brec Bassinger), a high-school sophomore who discovers that her new stepfather has a secret past as the sidekick to the superhero Starman. Courtney discovers a powerful "cosmic staff" that used to belong to Starman, and, in time, she inspires a mismatched group of young heroes to become the Justice Society of America and go up against the Injustice Society,...

Being a teenager has its fair share of challenges, but learning your parent was once a superhero sidekick is up there as the biggest.
Even worse is learning that you're the next in line. It's a solid basis for DC Universe's latest original series, which will also air on The CW, giving fans a lot of different ways to watch.
The official trailer dropped late Tuesday, and it looks different enough from The CW's Arrowverse for the decision to air on that network to make sense.
"High school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past," reads the official logline.
"This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions."

As you’ve probably heard, another live-action series will soon be joining Titans and Doom Patrol on DC Universe. We’re talking about Stargirl, which is now starting to pick up some buzz after its first teaser trailer was released over the weekend. And with the reactions to it being pretty positive, DC has now gone ahead and given us a bit more to feast on, with this new extended promo.
Seen up above, it features a couple of the same shots as the one from a few days ago but also reveals more of the titular heroine’s powers, as we see her putting her Cosmic Staff to use. Of course, we get a pretty good look at the supporting cast, too, which we’ll come to in a minute.
All things considered, this is shaping up to be another welcome addition to the DC Universe line-up, with the...

Update: This video has been removed at the request of DC. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
A third original live-action series is joining Titans and Doom Patrol on DC Universe this spring in the form of Stargirl. Whereas those two productions are notable for being darker and more mature than most other DC TV shows, this one will have a completely different tone. And you can get a feel for that in this first teaser trailer, which just debuted this evening.
The short promo opens with Courtney Whitmore herself, Brec Bassinger, standing in front of some high school lockers with co-stars Christopher James Baker, Angelika Washington and Yvette Monreal, with the foursome labelled “a new generation of superheroes.” These three actors’ characters have yet to be announced, but it seems they’ll become Stargirl’s pals in fighting crime. “The staff chose me,” we hear Bassinger say. “And I chose you.

Although DC Universe’s reputation has been damaged by its handling of Swamp Thing, most people are in agreement that the shows themselves are pretty great. One of the more anticipated upcoming series on the platform is Stargirl, which is being written and produced by Geoff Johns. And according to an insider on the Stargirl Facebook group, the new show will include Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern.
The rumored casting ties into Stargirl’s relationship to the Justice Society of America, the forerunners to the Justice League. In the show, Brec Bassinger plays Courtney Whitmore, a high school sophomore who joins with other young heroes to fight villains from the past. Whitmore takes on the mantle of Stargirl after discovering a cosmic staff and her stepfather’s role as sidekick to superhero Starman.

The first photo has been released from the upcoming DC Universe series Stargirl and it features Brec Bassinger (School of Rock) all decked out in her costume as the title character! You know what? I actually dig the look! It’s a pretty cool character design that is a perfect representation of the character.
Stargirl centers around Courtney Whitmore, who is played by Brec Bassinger, “a struggling high-schooler who relocates to Blue Valley, Nebraska when her mom gets married. After discovering her new stepfather was Starman’s sidekick Stripesy, Courtney uses his old Cosmic Staff to become Stargirl and inspire an unlikely group of young heroes to fight villains of the past. The titular character, who jumpstarted Johns’ career when he created her in 1999, was lovingly inspired by his sister, who was killed in a 1996 plane explosion.”

I like Luke Wilson, so it was a treat to hear that the actor has been cast in DC Universe’s upcoming Stargirl series.
According to Deadline, the actor will take on the role of Pat Dugan, “a mechanic-turned-superhero, who pilots Stripe, a hulking 15-foot robot of his own invention.” Here’s the official description of the character:
Pat Dugan once went by the less-than-inspired superhero name of Stripesy, sidekick to a young hero known as the Star-Spangled-Kid and later Starman of the legendary Justice Society of America. Today, Pat has left his sidekick life behind him. But when his new step-daughter, Courtney Whitmore, discovers Pat’s secret past and takes on Starman’s legacy to become Stargirl, Pat is forced to come out of retirement and once again become a sidekick — to his step-daughter — this time piloting a 15-foot robot called Stripe.
That sounds like the perfect character for Wilson!

The DC Universe series Stargirl just added some Hollywood star wattage to its cast: Luke Wilson is on board to portray mechanic-turned-superhero Pat Dugan, who pilots Stripe, a hulking 15-foot robot of his own invention.
The star of Old School, Legally Blonde and The Royal Tenebaums joins a cast led by young Brec Bassinger of Nickelodeon’s Bella & the Bulldogs in the title role of a high school student who inherits the cosmic device of a long-gone superhero. Also in the ensemble: Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Rex Tyler/Hourman, Brian Stapf as Ted Grant/Wildcat, Henry Thomas as Charles McNider/Dr Mid-Nite and Anjelika Washington in an undisclosed role.
Showrunner Geoff Johns, who created Stargirl while writing for DC Comics in the late 1990s, described the casting coup in terms that made it sound as if it was written in the stars.
“When I first moved to Los Angeles in 1996 and saw Bottle Rocket,...

Stargirl will introduce the Justice Society to the world of the DC Universe TV shows.
Stargirl is coming to the DC Universe streaming service (and then The CW). On DC Universe, the Stargirl TV show joins live-action series Titans and Doom Patrol, and animated series Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders. Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, and Sarah Schechter serve as executive producers, and Johns himself wrote the first episode.
The series will follow the character created by Geoff Johns and artist Lee Moder in 1999. Speaking to the crowd at the DC Universe panel at New York Comic Con in 2018, Johns compared the expected tone of the show to movies like Back to the Future and The Karate Kid. He also revealed that legendary Starman writer James Robinson is part of the writers room for the show, and that they're building a 15-foot-tall Stripe robot for Courtney to go on adventures with!
