Following the global success of Cunk on Earth, pioneering documentary-maker Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan) will return with her most ambitious quest to date; venturing right up the universe and everything, to examine life itself.
“What’s the point of it all?” is a question humans have been asking themselves since the dawn of time. But as we cling to our dying planet, working round the clock while we’re slowly being replaced by machines, now more than ever, people are desperately looking to make sense of their lives – before someone invents a computer that makes sense of it for them.
This one off special will see Philomena Cunk tackle some of the most complex concepts to have ever been discovered, including Quantum Physics, Existentialism, Nihilism, Hedonism – and at least four other isms – as well as exploring subjects from the big bang to biology, morals to meditation and art to artificial intelligence.

Warning: this Inside No. 9 review contains spoilers.
Alfred Hitchcock and co. needed just shy of two hours for Rear Window; Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith and director Al Campbell nailed their version in under 29 minutes and got a great gag in at the end.
Inside No. 9 perfection? I’d argue so. Show me one second wasted in this expertly constructed half hour. From Larry’s “best to use a brick” introduction, all the way to the Netflix punchline, this was pretty unassailable storytelling. It had comedy, tension, surprise, very decent guest stars and a formal experiment that was no gimmick, but integral to the story’s suburban satire.
Less Rear Window than Front Door, “Mulberry Close” was told almost entirely through the static frame of a video doorbell. Val and Damon (Vinette Robinson and Shearsmith) were newcomers to the close, having just moved into No. 9 next door to Larry...

Warning: this Inside No. 9 review contains spoilers.
After all this time, another first. Having blasted through the guest star budget on last week’s stunning five-star opener, “The Trolley Problem” is Inside No. 9’s sole story to feature only Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith on screen..
A two-hander powered by tension, it was a performance showcase for the creators, and would make an impressive calling card – as if one were needed at this stage – to any casting directors watching. Straight drama? No problem. Intense, emotional showdown? Watch us go. These two could slot in to any primetime or hit streaming show and act rings around everybody else, no question. Ideally though, they’d have a stronger script to perform than this one.
The action took place in a remote country home, against the driving rain of a noisily dramatic storm. Therapist Blake Chambers (Pemberton) had played the good...

Being stupid, as the saying goes, is like being dead – you’re oblivious either way, so it’s only really a problem for the people around you. The people around TV documentarian Philomena Cunk therefore, have a major problem.
At the end of January this year, America met Cunk properly for the first time when new show Cunk on Earth arrived on Netflix US. A documentary series follow-up to 2018’s Cunk on Britain, it’s an ambitious attempt to sum up the history of humankind in five half-hour episodes, made even more ambitious by the fact that it’s presented by a total moron.
A deliberate total moron, let’s be clear. Some apparently still aren’t clear that Philomena Cunk is not a real TV presenter but a character played by British comedy actor Diane Morgan. When Morgan appeared on US chat show Late Night With Seth Meyers earlier this year,...

Warning: contains spoilers for Inside No. 9 episode ‘Kid/Nap’
The internet can’t decide if it was Pablo Picasso or the Dalai Lama who said “learn the rules like a pro so you can break them as an artist”, so let’s split the difference and say it was Peter Andre. What Andre’s getting at is that rules will only take an artist so far (to ‘Mysterious Girl’) but transgression of said rules is necessary for an act of true creation (‘Insania’).
In ‘Kid/Nap’, Inside No. 9 transgresses its own golden rule. Not the one about never hiring actors Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith have worked with before – that went out with Jason Watkins in series three’s ‘The Bill’ and has been snubbed several times since. Lara in this episode being played by Daisy Haggard, aka Psychoville’s Debbie, is no foul.
Instead, it’s the rule about every Inside No.

Warning: contains spoilers for Inside No. 9 series six.
In series six, Inside No. 9 pulled off a diamond heist, explored obsessive geek fandom, framed a cuckold in an international conspiracy, let a grotesque true crime bleed from reality to fiction and back again, made a deal with the devil, and killed Jesus. Where, one might well ask, next?
Anywhere it wants, is the answer to that question. The BBC Two anthology series can float from location to location, story to story, unhampered by the need to put down roots in any one place. Series seven brings half a dozen brand new films to screen, scored by composer Christian Henson, and each one as different as the last.
The official synopsis describes the new episodes as taking us “from the Welsh valleys to an abandoned house, from kidnappers to detectives, and from a day trip out in a pedalo to a public information film.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Death to 2020,” streaming now on Netflix.
As “the most average person in the world,” Diane Morgan’s “Death to 2020” character sits on a couch in a comfy sweater during her talking-head interviews about the year that was 2020. She does not have a strong personal position on the political moves made over the course of the calendar year, preferring instead to sum up what she has witnessed taking place across the pond as watching a “show called America” that is “on the news channel.” She notes she found the story farfetched when it came time for President Donald Trump’s “experimental” vaccine, and that “it looked like the final shot in the season finale of America, so I was actually quite surprised when the country kept going after that.”
In those ways, Morgan’s character earned her title: She perfectly...

Netflix has debuted a new trailer for the comedy mockumentary ‘Death to 2020’ featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Grant.
2020: A year so [insert adjective of choice here], even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make it up… but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a little something to add. It stars Samuel L. “Black Mirror” masterminds Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones have dreamed up an even more horrifying way to end 2020 than with a new batch of “Black Mirror” episodes: a mockumentary about the year we all just suffered through.

Right now, good news often feels like gold dust, so hearing that Charlie Brooker will bring back his award-winning Wipe series for a special look at the state of things in lockdown is a bit like finding a freshwater lake after crawling through the desert on your hands and knees for a month, wailing “whyyyyy” the whole time. Perhaps Brooker is stood just at the water’s edge, wearing a crisp white toga. “Drink,” he gestures. Hoarsely, gratefully, we respond: “yes …yes.” Things have gotten weird in the first paragraph again.
Screenwipe has been missing from our screens since 2016, when Brooker started focusing much of his energy on Black Mirror, which has become one of Netflix’s most popular series. “Black Mirror” creator Charlie Brooker is making a half-hour isolation special of his “Wipe” review series for the BBC, with the working title of “Charlie Brooker’s Antiviral Wipe.”
Before “Black Mirror,” Brooker rose to fame with the BBC “Wipe” review series, which began in 2006 with “Charlie Brooker’s Screenwipe,” and went on to include “Newswipe with Charlie Brooker,” “Charlie Brooker’s Gameswipe” and “Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe.” The last episode of his annual “Wipe” review ran in 2016.
Last year, Brooker said he was too busy working on Netflix series “Black Mirror” to focus on “Wipe,” but the lockdown has clearly freed up some of his time.
