Queen Latifah and Gabrielle Union both joined Janelle Monae’s performance at WeHo Pride’s Outloud music festival last weekend, drawing massive from the crowd with their collective dance moves.

In videos posted by Union to Instagram, Latifah and Union can both be seen escorting Monae to the front of the stage and twerking against the “Float” singer. In other photos and videos, the three pass time together backstage.

Outloud is the flagship music festival of WeHo Pride Weekend, which took place this year from June 1 to 2 in West Hollywood Park in Los Angeles. In addition to Monae, Kesha, Adam Lambert and more performed.

Union attended the fest with her longtime stylist, Larry Sims, who posed with the singer last year for The Hollywood Reporter’s Beauty Issue.

Gabrielle Union made an appearance at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) conference. The conference hosts actors and plenty of other creatives from all over the world in entertainment areas like music, comedy, and film, plus tech, culture, and education. It was first launched in Austin, Texas back in 1987 and has been a successful event ever since; it was canceled once in 2020 due to covid.

Celebrities often make appearances to speak on panels, and this year, actor and producer Gabrielle Union took the stage during the premiere of “The Idea of You” to discuss the film, which starred Anne Hathaway; Union was one of the producers. The movie had been in the works for nearly six years.

Oscar winner Charlize Theron was the last VIP to arrive at West Hollywood’s Holloway House shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, Oct. 25, for The Hollywood Reporter and Instagram’s exclusive party to toast the town’s most influential glam gurus. Theron had good reason for turning up just as guests were being seated for dinner — her glam squad got the party started early at her house.

“We were all together trying to get ready in my bathroom which is kind of difficult because it’s this big,” said Theron while holding her hands together to represent a tight squeeze. “And we were having way too much champagne and just talking. WarnerMedia is partnering with the Black Beauty Roster platform for diverse hair and makeup education, talent, and advocacy, to expand the presence of emerging and diverse beauty professionals on its upcoming slate of film and TV productions.

Black Beauty Roster provides educational resources to help on-set staff learn the nuances of working with textured hair and darker complexions and how to be better advocates for talent of color. The company will now provide hair and makeup staffing support for WarnerMedia productions via its network of over 10,000 union and non-union beauty professionals, across the U.S. and Canada. Its partnership with the conglomerate will also involve workshops targeted towards executives and decision makers on allyship and advocacy, as well as panel discussions focused on diversity behind the camera.

WarnerMedia has partnered with Black Beauty Roster and its network of 10,000 vetted beauty professionals in an effort to advance diversity in hair and makeup on set.

Through the new relationship, WarnerMedia and Black Beauty Roster (Bbr) aim to address a problem that is twofold — first, addressing the concerns of talent of color who’ve been underserved on sets by helping producers and executives find hair stylists and makeup artists skilled in working with their hair textures and skin tones; and second, creating opportunities for those artists to work on productions and special events, which is often complicated by union regulations and rosters.

“We [at WarnerMedia] had done these listening sessions to hear about the concerns that were happening, and, of course, one of the biggest things was hair and makeup,” Yvette Urbina tells Variety, explaining the genesis of this initiative.
