- Aliethea D'Angelo is a first-generation American born to a truck driver from Repubblica di San Marino and a Jill of all-trades Irish mother. Because of their love of film and TV, they named her Aliethea after a Jodie Foster character and nicknamed her Ali after actress Ali Macgraw. A Producer, Director, and Writer with a long-standing career in the entertainment industry. Over the years she has developed a visual style that expresses the vulnerable yet gritty exploration of often overlooked characters. With a penchant for seeing the beauty in the darkness, Aliethea takes an intuitive approach to her work that delves into the inner workings of each story she shares.
Aliethea has a unique way of being involved with all aspects of her projects and a cognitive approach that embraces the creative and the practical which inspires her crew and assures her investors in turn the story is everyone's priority which is reflected in the outcome and enjoyed onscreen. Her visual stitching of genres communicates directly with the audience in a way that dares them to lean in and immerse themselves in another world. Seeing beauty in the fringes, her work highlights characters, primarily female outliers, who have immense willpower and take unconventional paths to their life's beginnings to overcome the odds stacked against them.
She directs with a fierce wit and a deep understanding of human behavior and when producing she enjoys supporting other directors with the same dedication.
Her first independent project, "L'Une et L'Autre," premiered at Cannes in '07, and she has since gone on to have several features and shorts viewed worldwide. She has worked in-house or collaborated with Paramount, NBC, and Netflix. In 2023 alone, she was involved in the docu-series "Leguizamo Does America", created a development department for EB, Executive Produced "Misdirection" in Serbia, starring Olga Kurylinko and Frank Grillo, and founded ELO96 with her son. In February 2024, "The Disruptors", starring Marc Evan Jackson, and "Paint", starring Heather Matarazzo and Callum Blue, were released on Apple TV and Amazon.
