NCIS: Origins has earned a full season order. The CBS series is the newest show in the NCIS shared universe, Origins is a crime procedural prequel series set in the 1991 that follows a younger version of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played onscreen by Austin Stowell and via voiceover narration by original Gibbs star Mark Harmon) as he works to establish himself at the Camp Pendleton office after the deaths of his wife and child. The ensemble cast of the show also includes Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, and Diany Rodriguez.

Per Deadline, CBS has now officially given NCIS: Origins a full season order after airing just five episodes beginning with a two-episode premiere on October 14. This means that, on top of the 13 episodes that were originally ordered for season 1 of the prequel series, it will have an additional five episodes, bringing it to a total of 18 and extending its run further into 2025. NCIS: Origins star Kyle Schmid teases how the upcoming Christmas episode will be crucial for Franks and Gibbs. Schmid plays Special Agent Mike Franks in the first NCIS spinoff that's also a prequel, focusing on the early years of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) as he attempts to assemble a team in the very early 1990s. He accomplishes this with the help of Franks, his mentor, who Muse Watson played in the main NCIS series.

In an interview with TV Insider, Schmid previewed what to expect from the prequel's upcoming Christmas episode. The creators of NCIS: Origins explain Mark Harmon's involvement in the prequel series. The premiere of the CBS series is mere weeks away, focusing on a younger version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) in the early 1990s. But the NCIS prequel spinoff, which is executive produced by Harmon, will be narrated by the actor and he'll also make an on-screen appearance.

In an interview with TVLine, ahead of the NCIS: Origins premiere on Monday, October 14, at 10 Pm Et on CBS, co-creator David J. North, who serves as showrunner with Gina Lucita Monreal, shared that Harmon is as hands-on as we want him to be. Filming is believed to be underway in New Zealand under the working title Backpack, and thanks to a leaked casting call, we have an intriguing logline and details on the two main characters.

Now, three years after leaving NCIS, Mark Harmon is returning for a new movie. He will star in the sequel to Freaky Friday titled Freaky Friday 2.

As 20th Century Studios and director Dan Trachtenberg move forward with their plans to expand the Predator franchise following the success of the most recent instalment, Prey, the next project to feature the iconic extraterrestrial big game hunter has now been announced.

Deadline reports that Trachtenberg is set to helm a standalone Predator movie titled Badlands, with Elle Fanning on board to play the lead role. Plot details are still under wraps, but the story is believed to be set "sometime in the future."

Trachtenberg is said to have wanted to land an "established star" for this movie, and began taking meetings with talent. Insiders close to the project say, "Fanning is a fan of the franchise and once execs got wind of her interest, moved to set a meeting with her and Trachtenberg."

As for Prey, a direct sequel to the 2022 film is also happening, though details are still few and far between.

Patrick Fischler has been tapped to head up the Nis office on CBS’ upcoming NCIS: Origins prequel series.

As first reported by our sister site Deadline, Fischler will fill the recurring role of Special Agent in Charge Cliff Walker, who oversees the agency’s fledgling Pendleton office.

The Predator franchise gets a stealth prequel in the shape of this smartly written sci-fi thriller that has the dreadlocked alien super-hunter under-estimating a worthy new opponent. Jhane Myers, the producer of the thriller film ‘Prey’, shared that the team conducted extensive research with regard to the way of life and traditions of the Native American tribe of Comanche. The film presents a vicious and terrifying showdown between various predators with a gripping narrative and representation of the Comanche tribe.

Talking about the work it took to learn about the tribe, Jhane said, “We did extensive amounts of historical research and studied their customs and period-appropriate dialogue and sign language.”

She added: “The Comanches hunt and fight for survival. Everything that they hunt, like when they hunt a Buffalo, every part of that Buffalo is used. According to reports, the New York City-based live-action TV series "Grendel", based on the Comico, Dark Horse comic book title by Matt Wagner, following a young man who becomes a feared and glorified 'anti-hero' killer, has been canceled at Netflix despite shooting an entire first season of 8 episodes:

Abubakr Ali, the titular star of the recently canceled Netflix series Grendel, is speaking out about the show’s cancellation and what it means for Muslim representation on the screen.

In Grendel, Ali became the first Arab Muslim male actor to portray a series lead in a comic book adaptation. Earlier this week, Netflix revealed it would not be moving forward with the series. The decision was made after Grendel had done the bulk of its filming but the series was not finished, so there is currently a partial eight-episode season in the can. Producers have the option to shop the series.

In a post on Instagram, Ali noted that “Despite making up 24 percent of the world’s population, Muslim actors only make up 1 of speaking characters on TV.”

Netflix has grounded its adaptation of the Dark Horse Comic book Grendel.

Deadline revealed the news Tuesday, stating that the show had been in production and that plenty of scenes had been filmed.

Based on Matt Wagner's groundbreaking comic book series, Grendel follows Hunter Rose, a gifted fencer, writer and assassin as, seeking to avenge the death of a lost love, he goes to war with New York's criminal underworld, only to realize...why beat them, when you can join them?

That was the logline shared when the series got a formal pickup a year ago.

Deadline notes that producers plan to shop the series around, but there's no telling what paved the way for the cancellation.

The cast of the project was to include Abubakr Ali as the titular “Grendel”/“Hunter Rose.”

“Grendel” is no longer happening at Netflix, Variety has confirmed.

Based on Matt Wagner’s popular comic books, the series (which had an eight episode order) follows Hunter Rose, a fencer, writer and assassin who fights organized crime in New York to avenge the death of a lost love, until he ends up taking over the crime scene himself. It was originally picked up at Netflix in September 2021.

Producers now have the option to auction the project elsewhere. No further information has been released.

Abubakr Ali is set to play the show’s titular role. Ali is known for playing Sebastian ‘Bash’ Kamal-Stern in “Power Book II: Ghost.” His other credits include playing Raj Patel in “Katy Keene” and a leading role in “What If?,” the upcoming feature from Orion Pictures and Killer Films directed by Billy Porter.

“Prey” has become the biggest premiere film on Hulu following its opening weekend.

20th Century Studios’ press release calls the film “the No. 1 premiere on Hulu to date, including all film and TV series debuts” as well as “the most watched film premiere on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star Banner in all other territories, based on hours watched in the first three days of its release.”

Thirty-five years after Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in “Predator” as Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer, “Prey” takes viewers 300 years in the past to follow Naru, a warrior in the Comanche Nation who encounters the Predator species.

In the fifth insallment of the sci-fi “Predator” franchise, young Naru steps into the role she has been preparing for her whole life: protecting her camp of warriors and hunters that live in the Great Plains.

20th Century Studios announced today that its Predator spinoff Prey has notched the #1 premiere on Hulu to date, across all of the streamer’s films and television series. The direct-to-Hulu release of “Prey,” the action-thriller prequel to “Predator,” notched the most viewing hours ever on the Disney-owned streamer in its first three days — among all TV series and movies.

That would mean “Prey” had a bigger aggregate viewing-time total over three days than “The Kardashians,” which Hulu in April said was its biggest TV series premiere at the time.

Disney decided to forgo a theatrical release for 20th Century Studios’ “Prey,” which premiered Aug. 5 on on Hulu in the U.S., as well as on Disney’s Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.

Disney said “Prey” also was the most-watched film premiere on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ under the Star banner.

Predator star Jesse Ventura has nothing but positive reviews for Hulu’s prequel of the long-running franchise, Prey.

Ventura, who played Blain Cooper in the original Predator film, took to social media to share his thoughts on Hulu’s prequel, praising star Amber Midthunder and director Dan Trachtenberg.

“@AmberMidthunder, you definitely ain’t got time to bleed,” Ventura wrote, adding, “Welcome to the Predator family.” He continued, “@DannyTRS, Thank you for making z such a thoughtful, creative, and wonderful film.”

Midthunder replied to Ventura, saying she didn’t know how to thank him, and Trachtenberg shared that he was “on the floor. Thank you sir! Thanks for watching and so glad you appreciated what we did!!”

“Prey” will stream August 5, 2022, as a Hulu Original in the U.S.

The first reactions to the new “Predator” movie are in, and they are downright glowing. “Prey” received an early screening at San Diego Comic-Con Thursday night, after which social media reviews started to bubble up. Across the board, the first batch of reactions are heaping praise on the prequel from director Dan Trachtenberg (“10 Cloverfield Lane”).

Set 300 years in the past, in the world of the Comanche Nation, “Prey” follows a character named Naru (Amber Midthunder), a warrior “raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains.” When the alien Predator comes calling, Naru sets out to protect her people.

20th Century Studios has debuted a new trailer for the action-thriller from Dan Trachtenberg, ‘Prey.’

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, the story follows a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Directed by Trachtenberg, the film stars an almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent, including Amber Midthunder, newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (“Sooyii”), Michelle Thrush (“The Journey Home”) and Julian Black Antelope (“Tribal”). The first trailer for Prey dropped on Tuesday, which showed off both an intense and intriguing chapter in the iconic Predator franchise.

The two-minute preview for the film from 20th Century Studios coming directly to Hulu on Aug. 5 teased the Comanche Nation 300 years in the past fighting against a Predator.

The exact story is of a young woman, Naru (Amber Midthunder), a fierce and highly skilled warrior, who sets out to protect her people from the terrifying, relentless and often invisible killing machine.
