The title "Queen of the Redwood Mountains" comes from the name of a poem the central character promises to write for the girl he meets on the beach on the first segment of the film, 'Encounter at Big Sur'.

"Queen of the Redwood Mountains" has taken over a decade to produce as it combines his four short films into one feature length film. All four films have been re-edited and additional footage was shot to link the films with actor Gavan O'Herlihy playing an older version of the same character played by Philip Bulcock in the short films.

"Queen of the Redwood Mountains" reveals the name of the central character to be John Anderson, a name never revealed in any of the short films.
