Faridur Reza Sagar was born on February 22, 1955 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The eldest Son of famous Bangladeshi fiction writer Begum Rabeya Khatun
and Director Fazlul Haque. Since childhood, he has been involved with
many children-friendly TV Shows on Bangladesh Television. In 1966,
Faridur Reza Sagar himself played the leading role in the very first
children feature film 'President' directed by his father. He earned
fame as a young presenter, program conductor and involving with
television program since the inception of Bangladesh Television. For
over 20 years, he has been writing fictions for the children and more
than 50 books have been published. He has also written a number of
scripts and television dramas for the children.
He is the Managing Director of Channel I, the first digital television channel in Bangladesh launched on October 1, 1999 which broadcasts over 89 countries around the world and the most popular television channel of the country. He is also at the Board of Directors of Impress Group, one of the largest groups of companies in Bangladesh.
In 2005, for his very special contribution for Children Literature he was honored with the Bangla Academy Award. In addition, he also received Agrani Bank Children's Literature Award, Chader Haat Children's Literature award, Euro Children's Literature Award. He was also awarded with Bangladesh Film Journalists' Association Award, Cultural Reporters' Award, National Film Award (2002) and many other National Awards.
He produced over 42 full-length feature films, which earned numerous International Nominations and Awards.
Faridur Reza Sagar is a living legend. With wife Kona Reza and two daughters Meghna and Mohona, he has a complete cultural atmosphere at home.
