Jessie Wei is a Writer, Actress, and Producer based in Alaska. She was born in Shanghai, China, but moved with her parents to Melbourne, Australia, where she grew up. Inspired by Disney films during her childhood, she had initially wanted to become a voice actress, but followed the advice of her parents to get a college education first. She attended the University of Melbourne and graduated with two Bachelor Degrees in Commerce (Finance Specialization) and Arts (Psychology Major), and worked in banking upon graduation. During college, she dabbled in screen acting by getting involved with student films. She made her first on-screen appearance when she auditioned for and landed the part of "Amy" in the short film "Clean", written and directed by Nicky Reid for her student film production at the Victorian College of Arts (VCA). Jessie's performance in the short film caught the attention of Melbourne-based talent agent Joyce Yuen (Phoenix Artists Management), who signed her up and opened up many acting opportunities for her in various Australian Television shows and commercials. During this time, Jessie also wrote/directed/produced/animated a short animation "Melbourne Corp Chic" and a short documentary "Reach Out", both of which were screened at the 2008 ANZ Breakout Arts Festival.
Jessie has since relocated to Alaska where she made her debut as a writer and producer for the narrative short film "In the Now", a fiction story which was inspired by her pug named "Bandit" who passed away. Jessie is passionate about writing and making films, and continues to pursue expanding her knowledge and creativity as a storyteller.
