Stars: Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Luke Kirby, Sarah Silverman, Jennifer Podemski, Diane D’Aquila, Vanessa Carter, Graham Abbey | Written and Directed by Sarah Polley
Opening on a soft focus into a kitchen, Margot (Michelle Williams) is busy baking something. While the light shining through the window gives the scene a cosy feeling, this seemingly perfect scenario is contrasted by the unsatisfied look on the lead’s face. Writer/Director Sarah Polley uses this interesting opening to draw viewers into Take This Waltz and question what has resulted in the unfolding scenario.
While she is abroad for work, freelance writer Margot makes a charming connection with artist and rickshaw driver, Daniel (Luke Kirby). She is upfront about being married to Lou (Seth Rogen), her loving husband of five years, although the momentary spark is troubled by the revelation that Daniel lives across the street from the couple.

388 Arletta Avenue is a horror film that was recently shown at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film stars Nick Stahl and Mia Kirshner, as a couple stalked by a killer. This sadist uses hidden video cameras to film his prey, with terror his only motive. There have been a few early reviews from Tiff on this title. 388 Arletta Avenue has been called a "cerebral experience" and full of "interesting concepts" (Twitch). This average review does not really get the blood pumping for a release, but hopefully other reviews will enlighten thriller fans on what to expect from Amy and James' last terror filled moments. Enjoy an early preview of the film, with poster left.
So far, 388 Arletta Avenue has been sold in Canada to E1 Entertainment for home theatre sales and a possible theatrical release.
Optimum Releasing has picked up this title for the United Kingdom, while United States...

CBC, a Canadian TV network, surely didn't renew the TV series The Border for a fourth season last year. However, the TV series' first season will premiere in the USA on Ion Television, an American cable network.
The show will premiere on July 8 with two back-to-back episodes starting at 10 Pm.
In this TV series, we follow a squad of the fictitious Immigration Customs Security (Ics), a Canadian federal agency responsible of the security on the border between Canada and the USA. Major Mike Kessler (James McGowan) heads his team and does his best to maintain a clear-eyed decency while responding to the call of duty. He often clashes with agent Bianca Lagarda (Sofia Milos), an agent sent by the American government to work with the Ics.
The show also stars Graham Abbey, Nazneen Contractor, Jonas Chernick, Mark Wilson, Jim Cordington, Catherine Disher, Sarah Gadon and Nigel Bennett.

The Canadian distributor Vsc has sent a hi-res picture of the DVD artwork of The Border's third season. This Canadian espionnage series - which was aired on the public TV network CBC - will come out on DVD on August 10.
Despite the good reviews the shot has gotten, CBC didn't renew The Border for a fourth season.
The show tells the story of the fictional Immigration and Custom Security (Ics). The group is led by Maj. Mike Kessler, a former soldier of the Joint Task Force 2 (Canada's elite army). While Det. Sgt. Layla Hourani (Nazneen Contractor) died in the second season's finale, she'll be replaced by Khalida Massi (Athena Karkanis), a polyglot agent. Other than that, the Ics is under investigation by the Canadian Public Security ministry because of the screw-up that occured during a border operation at the end of season two.

The network has picked up two Canadian drama series, "The Border" and "The Guard."
Both will make their U.S. debuts on Ion later this year.
"The Border," from Fireworks International, follows members of the Canadian Immigration and Customs Security Unit working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to secure the border on both sides of the line.
The series, which airs on Canada's Cbc, drew interest from several U.S. broadcast networks, including ABC and CBS, during the writers strike.
"The Guard," from Lionsgate, revolves around the members of a Coast Guard Search and Rescue team.
Ion has acquired all U.S. television, digital media rights, Internet streaming and video-on-demand rights for both shows.
