Rosa (Maria Rosaveline Carin), was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is the oldest of four children and is a first generation American Filipino. Her father is of Filipino/French/Cree decent, and her mother of Filipino/Spanish decent. Her father, a medical doctor, her mother a pharmacist.; immigrated to the U.S. After gaining their citizenship, her father enlisted first as a Captain in the Navy, and then later transferring to the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. In his final years of service, he retired as a Colonel.
After her father retired from the military, Rosa's family settled down in Talihina, Oklahoma. There, she graduated from high school and went on to attend college at St. Gregory's University and The University of Oklahoma. Following school, she became a teacher, taught Pre-K for six years, then was a stay-at-home parent during her children's Middle & High school years. After teaching, some of her friends talked her into the industry. She was hooked after she was cast in the feature film Serving Sara (2002).
In addition to film and television, Rosa hosted for television shows on local station KERA, and paid for programs such as "Hot On Homes". She has appeared in music videos, portrayed lead characters in independent films, appearing in numerous commercials, and commercial print ads.
At the start of 2013, she started her own production; Mystisa Films. In 2014, Rosa released her very first film to produce, write, and direct. The film: Damage-Joy (sha-den-froi-de) (2014) made the film festival circuit. The film finished 2014 being the official selection of 6 festivals, 9 nominations: and winning 5 of the 9 nominations.
She has resided in Dallas, Texas with her husband where they have raised two children.
