MICHAEL GOLDBURG is an award-winning writer/director who earned his M.F.A. at NYU's Grad Film Program. Michael's films, including his recently celebrated AARON WITH 2 A'S, have screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals, garnered numerous awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay, and are featured on Amazon Prime and Funny or Die. He has worked with creators from Comedy Central and The Onion, is a former script consultant with ScriptLaunch, and is an in-demand screenwriter for hire, recently co-writing a psychological thriller, NOT DARK YET, for an independent producer.
Michael's celebrated feature screenplay, SURE-FIRE, is a top-ranked script on Coverfly and has placed in numerous prestigious screenwriting competitions, including ScreenCraft, CineStory, Shore Scripts, ISA, Filmmatic, and Beverly Hills. His proof of concept short film for SURE-FIRE has screened at numerous prominent festivals and won multiple awards, including Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Comedy, and Best Actor. Michael's team for SURE-FIRE includes advisor Joe Pirro, Head of Production at Symbolic Exchange ("The Assistant"), founded by James Schamus (former CEO of Focus Features), who feels SURE-FIRE is one of the "funniest scripts he's ever read" and Michael is "part of the next wave of emerging filmmakers to break through to wider audiences."
Michael is also developing multiple other projects, including MARGO FOR REAL, a comedy pilot script, which was recently selected for the esteemed Catalyst Content Festival, as well as a feature adaptation of a darkly comic novel, SMALL GAME, by the former book editor of "The Chicago Tribune," which he developed in Sundance Collab with Oscar-nominated screenwriter and advisor Naomi Foner. Michael is also an adjunct film professor at NYU Grad Film and Rider University.
