Mark Allen(XXV)
- Writer
- Producer
- Director
Mark Allen was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas. He started writing short stories at age 10. At 18, he joined the U.S. Navy and spent 21 years as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. He served as an Independent Duty Hospital Corpsman (IDC) and FMF Warfare Specialist in countries all over the world. He retired in May 2001.
Mark spent several years while on active duty learning screenwriting in his spare time. His first feature film production, DELIRIUM (2007), which he wrote and directed, was shot in nine days on a budget of $9000. It achieved an international DVD distribution deal. Mark followed up with close friend, Producer/Director Kevin DiBacco on EARLY GRAVE, which Mark wrote and co-produced in 2013. It enjoyed limited theatrical runs, followed by a global DVD, VOD and streaming release.
In 2014, Mark was diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer. All filmmaking activities went on indefinite hold. His sole priority was to beat his cancer. He fought hard and emerged victorious. He is now ten years cancer-free. Hobbled by complications from Chemotherapy and radiation, he no longer has the stamina to direct. But being a writer first, he had options. In addition to writing several more award-winning screenplays, he published the critically-acclaimed vampire noir novel, NOCTURNAL in 2017. He followed up with the critically-acclaimed award winning (Book Fest Fall 2023) werewolf yarn, BLOOD RED MOON in 2021. His latest novel, JUST BEFORE DAWN, a sequel to NOCTURNAL, was released in 2023 and became an Amazon U.S. Horror bestseller.
Mark lives quietly in a small town in the Pacific Northwest.
He writes every day.
