Maria Ushakova is a prominent television and film producer in Russia. She is the founder of the Moskino Film Production Company. Currently she is the head of production of a prime-time series at Russia1 - top Russian TV Channel.
Her works include Mongol, the first Oscar nominated film from Kazakhstan made as a co-production between Russia, Kazakhstan and Germany, as well as major critically acclaimed award-winning television hits such as Life and Fate, Godunov, Blackout, and Quiet Flows the Don, which sold to various international streamers including Amazon. The film Blackout received Grand Prix at the Serial Killer festival in the Czech Republic and high marks from the jury and the president of the festival in the out-of-competition program at the Series Mania Festival in Lille France.
The films Godunov (2018) and the Odessa Steamer (2019) were the absolute rating leaders of the among all Russian channels.
Maria began her career in 2000 as an executive producer working for the most renowned Russian film production companies including Sergei Selyanov's STV, Nikita Mikhalkov's TriTe and Anatoliy Maksimov's Direktsiya Kino. Maria has been a member of the Russian Producers Guild since 2007, she has been a member of the Russian National Film Arts and Sciences Academy Golden Eagle since 2014. Ushakova is recipient of multiple awards including the Golden Eagle (Russian equivalent of the Oscar), the Prizes of the Association of Films and Television Producers (APKIT) and many others.
