Jason Mewes stars as himself in feature directorial debut Madness in the Method, depicting his struggle to be taken seriously in Hollywood.
Madness in the Method brandishes a title that, in reversing a famous idiom, reveals the 180 turn of its star and director, Jason Mewes, who’s using the film as a statement to prove to audiences that he’s more than just a snoochie-boochie-smoking loiterer of convenience stores and malls.
Indeed, the film shows Mewes expanding his (perceived as limited) performance boundaries by – ironically enough – playing, well, himself in the meta-minded character study, putting aside his oft-fielded character in Kevin Smith’s View Askewverse as Jay. However, that’s not to say that he’ll be without his repertory onscreen companion, since Smith will very much be a part of the film, joined by an intriguing array of supporting cast members, most notably the immortal Stan Lee...

We all love a good Downton one-liner - but now there's no need to imitate the Dowager Countess's witty remarks.
A new app of Downtonisms has launched on iOS and Android, offering over 160 quotes from 12 of the show's characters.
Everything from the countess saying, "Vulgarity is no substitute for wit" to Lady Mary's "I should hate to be predictable" can be heard on the soundboard app.
Fans can also test themselves with a quiz to match quotes with the characters.
"The nation's love affair with Downton Abbey shows no sign of stopping, so we wanted to find a fun way for fans to interact with the show beyond the TV set in their living room," said NBCUniversal's Dominic Burns.

If writer/director Dominic Burns’ “Alien Uprising” sounds familiar, then it’s probably because you heard about the flick when it was called “UFO.” Since that sort of title doesn’t really fly in the North American market — plus it knocks you to the back of the Netflix and Redbox — the film is now known as “Alien Uprising.” Thankfully, it retains the cameo from Jean-Claude Van Damme, which is the only reason it’s getting covered here today. Sorry, everyone else. A synopsis, if you so desire: A group of friends awake one morning to find all electricity and power shut off, and an immense alien aircraft hovering in the air above their heads. Damn aliens are itching for a split-kick in the face! Of course this isn’t Really a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie. As far as I know, he only has a cameo in this thing (not that I’ve seen it or anything, but he does only appear way at the end of the trailer, and if he has a bigger role, you’d think they would show him more often). Dominic Burns’ “Alien Uprising” was formerly called “U.F.O.”, but I guess “Alien Uprising” sounds more “alien” and “uprising”-ish. Here’s the latest trailer for the film sporting the new moniker. A group of friends awake one morning to find all electricity and power shut off, and an immense alien aircraft hovering in the air above their heads. We have been following the production of Simon Phillips and Paul Tanter’s latest film over in La for a few weeks now and as production wraps on The Last Scout we’re very pleased to be able to bring you the first look at the film’s teaser poster.
Fresh from the success of the second in his White Collar Hooligan series Tanter and director Simon Phillips, along with their regular team of collaborators, have turned their focus to the outward urge. As with Dominic Burns’ UFO and post-apocalyptic thriller The Last Seven the continuing journey away from the dangerous gangland of the East End seems to be picking up pace and we’re likely to see other genres come under their focus.
All we know of The Last Scout is what the press notes have as a brief synopsis,

The science fiction genre has become almost synonymous with big, Hollywood blockbuster productions, as we rarely see independent British directors attempt such a particular brand of filmmaking. However, Dominic Burns – who brought us How to Stop Being a Loser – ambitiously returns with U.F.O., a film about, you guessed it, a big bloody U.F.O.

Director: Dominic Burns. Review: Adam Wing. From Hard Target to Street Fighter, Kickboxer to Kung Fu Panda, Legionnaire to Timecop and Bloodsport to The Expendables, Jean-Claude Van Damme’s movie career continues to baffle, bewilder and delight in equal measures. Well perhaps not equal measures but you get the point. That trend is set to continue this month with the release of Dominic Burns’ sci-fi thriller U.F.O. With the occasional high and plenty of lows to his name, the Muscles from Brussels seemed to have rediscovered himself with star turns in 2008’s Jcvd, the Coors Light advertising campaign and Stallone’s 80’s action throwback. Proving himself quite the comeback kid, the world rejoiced as Van Damme returned to form with a dazzling spin kick. Just the one spin kick mind, let’s not get carried away here. Having said that, it’s worked for almost thirty years now so why change things?...

U.F.O. hits our UK cinema screens today, and to mark the release of this ambitious British sci-fi, we caught up with director Dominic Burns, and star performer Bianca Bree.
U.F.O. follows the adventure of five friends, who awake one morning to find there is no power or electricity, and a big alien aircraft hovering above their heads. As tensions grow, it soon becomes a case of survival of the fittest, as the human race is seemingly at threat thanks to their new visitors.
Bree – daughter of Belgian action hero Jean-Claude Van Damme – stars alongside Sean Brosnan – (son of Pierce) and she discusses with us what it was like working alongside her father, and in particular her dramatic fighting scene with him.
Meanwhile, Burns – who directed the comedy How to Stop Being a Loser – is becoming something of a jack of all trades, but admits his future lies predominantly in action thrillers.

The international trailer for a film called UFO has unleashed its low budget fury on the web, featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme doing what he does best – killing things. Check it out below:
Synopsis:
It started with a blackout, all power and communications down. Hours later city sized UFOs invade the world’s skies. Then the war began…
Five friends attempt to navigate their way to survival amidst deteriorating chaos as the world descends into terror and anarchy during an alien invasion and interstellar war.
Airborne’s Dominic Burns directed the indie sci-fi flick that also stars Bianca Bree, Sean Brosnan, Simon Phillips, Julian Glover and Sean Pertwe.
This story line has been overused, and I don’t think that Van Damme is enough to interest me. Would this be a film you want to see when it hits theaters next year?

Dominic Burns’s “U.F.O.” stars Jean-Claude Van Damme and his daughter, Bianca Bree. But mostly it stars Bianca Bree, with Jean-Claude Van Damme kinda showing up towards the end of the trailer with a shotgun. Judging by the limited footage of the Claudester in this two-minute spot for “U.F.O.”, I’m guessing Jcvd has a cameo. Or an extended cameo. One of those. The film itself, a British import, doesn’t look too bad if you don’t mind alien invasion flicks without a $100 million dollar Hollywood budget. Check out a poster and trailer for the film below when you get the chance. It started with a blackout, all power and communications down. Hours later city sized UFO’s invade the world’s skies. What if Skyline was British, didn’t take place in a big city apartment complex, and at some point Jean-Claude Van Damme shows up with a shotgun? That’s kind of the impression I got from the trailer for UFO.

The question has been answered – we are not alone! Good, now I can finally continue my life! Thanks U.F.O.! Now, in case you’re still wondering what the hell Jean Claude Van Damme is doing on this image, I will give you the answer to that question – he’s fighting against the Aliens in Dominic Burns‘ new sci-fi movie! Today we have a completely new poster and a pretty cool international trailer to share with you, but please guys – try to remain calm!
Well, the truth is that Van Damme is not an important part of the U.F.O. story. He actually stars as a retired military adviser in the movie. But, hey, when your daughter stars as the lead – you have to support her, right?
So, in case you still know nothing about Van Damme’s little girl, we’re here to present you Bianca Bree, who plays a lead role in the movie!

Here’s your first look at footage from brand new British independent movie UFO as we debut the very first trailer to the world!
UFO stars Bianca Bree in her first major film role alongside Sean Brosnan, Julian Glover, Simon Phillips, Sean Pertwee, Andrew Shim, Jazz Lintott, Peter Barratt, Forbes Kb and Maya Grant. There’s also a chap who appears towards the end of the trailer that you may have heard of with the name Jean Claude Van Damme!
As well as the trailer, we’ve also got another new poster for you to join the one we put up over a year ago, both of which I absolutely love! The scale of the film looks epic and I can’t wait to see it in it’s finished form.

Bloody hell, I knew it was a mistake to watch a film starring Mark Hamill neither playing Luke Skywalker nor voicing The Joker.
I’m always one to give Video On Demand (VOD) films their fair shot, as sometimes it’s just a matter of lesser known foreign films or surprise independent hits getting proper distribution, but then again there are some films that are just so bad they don’t deserve a theatrical release in the slightest.
Airborne is one of those films, being a rancid airplane thriller which flaunts itself as a brutal horror watch. Unless just the sight of flying sends you into a tizzy, Dominic Burns’ empty thriller will leave you scrambling for a parachute and a quick access escape, jumping to safety while avoiding the entire monotonous flight. Even if there isn’t a parachute, jumping still is probably the better option, sadly.

Dominic Burns's Airborne starts out as a film that appears to be making the most out of the basic formula of films set aboard airplanes. Air traffic controller Malcolm (played by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill), sends one last plane off into the night as he London skies grow ominous and stormy. The plane is not full and understaffed, but populated by characters that include a British gangster and his two bodyguards, a heartbroken alcoholic, a mysterious flight attendant who may be a terrorist, and a pair of soldiers with violent pasts, and a create containing an ancient vase that is about to be sold at auction for millions.
Airplanes might be, statistically, one of the safest ways to travel, but they’re also quintessentially good settings for a thriller. Characters are suspended thousands of feet above the ground, often over the ocean, for hours at a time, with no means of escape.
