Hunter was born in Texas, and he started tinkering with tape recorders and digital audio as soon as he could reach the buttons. He graduated from the Savannah College of Art Design in 2005, as a Sound Design Major. After college, Hunter moved to Los Angeles to work at Margarita Mix Hollywood, eventually heading the Sound Effects Editorial Department for 15 years supervising sound on animated TV shows such as Rick & Morty, Bojack Horseman, Big Mouth, and Robot Chicken, for clients such as HBO, Fox, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, MTV, Disney, Dreamworks, Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu.
