More than four decades after forming in Los Angeles, trendsetting punk-rock firebrands Nofx played their final concerts this past weekend in nearby San Pedro, California as part of their Punk in Drublic Festival. The group’s last-ever concert on Sunday included guest appearances by Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, Bad Religion’s Brett Gurewitz and Jay Bentley, and the Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett, who once played alongside Nofx’s Fat Mike in Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, among others.

Nofx wrapped up their farewell tour with three gigs at Berth 46 in San Pedro, California, over the weekend, including their final show ever on Sunday (October 6th). For the very last gig, the veteran punk band played a marathon 33-song set that included notable guest appearances.

Foo Fighters kicked off an Australian tour in Perth on Wednesday by playing a pair of rarities from 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.

Most notably, Dave Grohl and co. staged the live debut of “Statues.” For the acoustic performance, Grohl was backed by guitarist Chris Shiflett and keyboardist Rami Jaffee.

Grohl then took the stage solo to play “Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners.” The song, was written about the 2006 Beaconsfield Mine collapse in Australia, was last played in concert in 2018. Recently, Grohl dusted the track off in the studio during an appearance on Norah Jones’ podcast.

All told, Foo Fighters ripped through a 25-song set that also included the tour debuts of “Stacked Actors” and “Arlandria” as well as a cover of AC/DC’s “Big Balls” featuring the band’s drum tech, Fiona, on lead vocals.

Foo Fighters are back in action with But Here We Are, their first album since the tragic 2022 passing of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins. By all accounts, it’s the band’s best work in years, fitting in detours in shoegaze and multi-passage epics in between the band’s classic style of straight ahead rock. At a recent show in Arkansas, the band debuted “The Teacher,” the 10-minute song that serves as one of the record’s most interesting moments. Check out the performance below.

“The Teacher” is likely inspired by Grohl’s mother Virginia, a longtime schoolteacher who also passed away last year. “You showed me how to breathe, never showed me how to say goodbye,” he sings. Adding to the family affair in the track’s live debut is the artist’s 17-year-old daughter Violet, who sings on But Here We Are and has been touring with the band as a backing vocalist.

Los Angeles, May 28 (Ians) Foo Fighters former drummer Taylor Hawkins’ son Shane is continuing to honour his father’s legacy.

Foo Fighters played the second gig of their latest tour recently, performing at the Boston Calling music festival at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston, Massachusetts, reports People magazine.

During the set, Shane, 17 – who is the son of the late Hawkins and his wife Alison – played the drums during the group’s performance of ‘I’ll Stick Around’.

“How about we do a song with one of my favourite drummers in the world?” Dave Grohl told the audience before performing the tune. “Ladies and gentlemen, Shane Hawkins!”

As per People, the band was originally expected to play in the music festival in 2022 with Hawkins, but they dropped out when he died unexpectedly at age 50 in March of that year.

Los Angeles, March 17 (Ians) The American rock band Foo Fighters is said to be on the verge of revealing the two drummers who will replace their late bandmate Taylor Hawkins.

Six months after the Black Crowes were sued by original member Steve Gorman over a royalties dispute, the band and their former drummer are “engaged” in settlement talks.

In March, Gorman — who along with the brothers Rich and Chris Robinson and bassist Chuck Brandt (a.k.a Johnny Colt) formed a partnership in 1991 to collect royalties for the group — sued to confirm the accuracy of his royalty payments and audit the partnership’s records. Gorman alleged that he asked to inspect the royalty accounting on numerous times, but his request was denied.

Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has been forced to cancel his solo tour dates in North America after catching coronavirus.

Over the weekend, Starr cancelled shows in Michigan and Minnesota, citing illness.

On Monday (3 October), the 82-year-old cancelled five more shows in Canada after testing positive for Covid-19.

"Ringo has Covid and the tour will be on hold while (he) recuperates," a statement said.

“Ringo hopes to resume as soon as possible and is recovering at home. As always, he and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans, and hope to see them back out on the road soon,” it continued.

The five Canadian shows cancelled included Winnipeg, Manitoba; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Lethbridge in Alberta; plus arenas in Abbotsford and Penticton in British Columbia.

Early photos of The Beatles playing at the iconic Cavern Club in Liverpool have been found.

The photos were taken of the band in 1961 and show the original line-up of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and drummer at the time, Pete Best. Best was replaced by Ringo Starr a year later.

The images were apparently taken when the band were just back from a gruelling tour in Germany, where they had played 500 hours on stage within 90 days, according to historian Mark Lewisohn, who’s written several books on the band.

The historian described the band, who in the pictures are aged between 18 and 20, as “whippet-thin under-nourished lads”.

He added: “So slender has this marathon made them, it’s as if their heads and bodies are stranger.

“A look emphasised by the unusual clothes - leather trousers and cotton tops. No other photos show them dressed this way.”

Dave Grohl, Travis Barker, and Miley Cyrus were some of the artists who performed at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday 27 September.

The show, which was held at the Kia Forum, kickstarted with Grohl’s 16-year-old daughter Violet performing a rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” along with guitarist Alain Johannes.

After that, Foo Fighters took over the stage, announcing: “Welcome to the Los Angeles Taylor Hawkins tribute concert.

“This is the hometown s***, so you gotta make it loud for Taylor.”

Grohl said that the idea of the concert is to “spend some time in [Hawkins’s] musical mind, which could be a pretty terrifying place” and to “celebrate this person that has touched our lives.”

The show continued with performances by Joan Jett, Chevy Metal, Kesha, Coattail Riders, Mark King, Rufus Taylor, Joe Walsh and the James Gang, Cyrus, Mötley Crüe, and Def Leppard among others.

Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett has released a new single, “Born & Raised.” The rollicking track was recorded with producer Vance Powell and features Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence and Eagles of Death Metal drummer Julian Doro, along with keyboardist Mike Webb and steel guitarist Luke Schneider.

The reflective song sees Shiflett referencing his West Coast home with a country soul as he sings, “You might change but I’m-a stay the same/ Where I was born and raised.”

Dave Grohl kicked off what promises to be an emotional day of music at the start of the tribute concert to Taylor Hawkins at London’s Wembley Stadium.

As NME reported, Grohl took to the stage flanked by fellow Foo Fighters Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee to introduce the star-studded tribute to Hawkins, who died in March at age 50.

The Foo Fighters will celebrate the life and legacy of their fallen brother drummer Taylor Hawkins the only way they know how in September: with a pair of giant rock shows celebrating the spirit and music they made together. As Pat Smear, one of the founders of L.A. punk legends The Germs, touring guitarist in Nirvana and a cornerstone of Grohl’s Foo Fighters, told him, “Drummers are like sharks, if they stop moving, they’ll die.”
