Geralt of Rivia has finished the next leg of his journey, and Netflix's monster-hunting fantasy show The Witcher has wrapped filming on its fourth season. This news comes courtesy of reliable Witcher scoop site Redanian Intelligence, who noticed that cast member Freya Allan (Ciri) posted a farewell message to Ciri's new thief accomplices, The Rats, on Instagram. "Mistle, Iskra, Giselher, Reef, Kayleigh, Asse. I love you all. Thank you for the most special season of [The Witcher]," the actor wrote, along with artwork she made for each of the characters.

The Rats are the band of teenage thieves Ciri met at the end of season 3. As Redanian Intelligence explains, this is almost certainly an adaptation of a scene from the books which sees The Rats ambush a baron's carriage in Nilfgaard. It appears Ciri cuts the throat of the baron's daughter, suggesting she's heading down a darker route in these episodes.

However, this is likely in response to the fact the woman's father is among those who hire Leo Bonhart to hunt Ciri down.

After Henry Cavill exited “The Witcher,” a first look at Season 4 of the Netflix series teases new star Liam Hemsworth as the recast character. A Google search lists Cavill at 6’1″ and Hemsworth as 6’3″ — if you can believe those things.

Major Series Adaptation Renewals at Netflix, Prime Video

There's more to come for two of TV's biggest series adaptations!

Late last week, Prime Video announced a Season 2 renewal for its recent hit adaptation of "Fallout," starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins. Based on the hit video game franchise of the same name, "Fallout" is set 200 years after the apocalypse, when "the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind...and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them."

The first season of "Fallout" premiered exclusively on Prime Video on April 10, and within its first few days post-launch, the series became one of the streamer's top three most-watched titles.

Geralt of Rivia’s story has an end date on Netflix.

On Thursday, the streaming service renewed The Witcher for Season 5, but revealed that it would be the last season.

The shocking announcement comes as production is finally getting underway on The Witcher Season 4 following countless setbacks.

“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate Season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” showrunner Lauren Hissrich shared in a statement.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”

Saying goodbye to the hit fantasy drama will be tough, but at least we have two seasons that will help soften the blow.

While the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher was in production, the streamer quietly started the development of The Rats, a new prequel series centered on a group of teenage renegades who were introduced at the end of Season 3. Here’s everything we know so far about the new upcoming spin-off that’s scheduled to arrive in 2024.

The Witcher writer, Haily Hall, is on board with the project as the lead writer and will also serve as showrunner. Shadow and Bone and The Sandman director Mairzee Almas is attached to direct an unknown amount of episodes. Everything comes to a head in season 3 of “The Witcher”.

Netflix released the second action-packed trailer for the new season today, which sees Henry Cavill’s Geralt taking on the world as they pursue his adopted daughter.

“The war brewing outside is nothing compared to what Geralt will unleash to protect his daughter,” warns Joey Batey’s Jaskier.

The show picks up where season 2 left off with the unexpected found family of Geralt, Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer, and Freya Allen’s Ciri preparing to take on the forces coming for Ciri.

The new trailer for season three of Netflix’s The Witcher is giving off heavy “you’re going to miss him when he’s gone” vibes. The official trailer for the upcoming season features Henry Cavill in full-on Geralt of Rivia mode, which makes fans not only anxious for the third season to premiere but also sad that it’s going to be Cavill’s last as Geralt.

The streaming service’s new trailer was accompanied by four character posters along with a batch of new photos.

Joining Cavill in season three are Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Myanna Buring as Tissaia, and Eamon Farren as Cahir. Netflix is ready to throw one last coin to Henry Cavill, announcing that the actor’s third and final season as The Witcher‘s Geralt of Rivia will be released in two parts this summer.

The swords-and-sorcery drama will return for Volume 1 of Season 3 (aka Episodes 1–5) on Thursday, June 29, while Volume 2 (Episodes 6–8) will be held until Thursday, July 27.

Henry Cavill has let it be known that he is vacating the role of Geralt of Rivia after The Witcher season 3, and Liam Hemsworth will be taking over as Geralt in season 4. The end of the Cavill era is swiftly approaching, as Netflix has confirmed that The Witcher season 3 will be available to watch on the streaming service sometime in the summer of 2023… and today, they unveiled a poster for the new season. In November, Redanian Intelligence reported that a new The Witcher spinoff series was in the works. Tentatively titled The Rats, the spinoff would explore a lesser-known group of characters that the series has never introduced. The Rats are a group of Nilfgaardian youngsters who are renegades, thieves, and even killers.

Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski built a sweeping, layered world filled with monsters, witchers, and sorcerers in his acclaimed novel series, "The Witcher." Sapkowski's saga, told both in novel and short story form, shines brightest when exploring complex characters, who inform the principles of the world they inhabit, and vice versa.

Sapkowski's worldbuilding has, to an extent, been captured by Netflix's television adaptation of the novels, which has been renewed for a third and fourth season. Although the exact plot points of season 3 remain under wraps, it will most likely explore Ciri's Elder Blood status in greater detail, along with the political upheaval that grips the Continent. Several new characters will debut in the upcoming season, including Mistle (Christelle Elwin), "a member of The Rats, a gang of misfit teenagers who steal from the rich and give to themselves ... and sometimes the poor.

Netflix on Saturday announced that the fantasy drama has been renewed for Season 4, at which point series star Henry Cavill will depart the role of Geralt of Rivia and hand his swords over to Hunger Games vet Liam Hemsworth.

Announced at the streamer’s fan event Tudum on Saturday (U.S. Pacific Time), its spinoff series, ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’, will debut on December 25, and Season 3 of the main show will follow in the summer of 2023.

Fans last visited ‘The Witcher’ universe nearly a year ago, when Season 2 of the Henry Cavill-led series dropped in December 2021.

Since then, it has spawned even more spinoffs. In addition to the ‘Blood Origin’ limited series, an anime feature is on the way and a family-friendly ‘Witcher’ series is in the works, notes ‘Variety’.
