He was laid to rest at Deansgrange Cemetery, Blackrock, County Dublin, Ireland, within the same community where he maintained a custom build family home for over 30 years. The funeral service was private and in his obituary it was requested that in place of flowers or financial contributions that the readers "do a random act of kindness for another same as Aidan himself always did".

He trained in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England, and began his career singing the background chorus at the historic Palace Theatre.

He was noted for being a method acting and appeared in several well known shows throughout England and America.

He had three homes. One in Surrey, England, a second in Blackrock, County Dublin, Ireland, and a third in Pebble Beach, California.

He was discovered by film director David Lean and his wife, actress Ann Todd, in 1952, and got him a film contract with London Film Productions. He made 10 feature films within one year of his contract and by the following year he had received the title as being the United Kingdom's "Most Promising Star of Tomorrow".

Worked as a model for the top London agency Scotty's in the 1960's.
