After the much publicized incident at the Oscars two years ago, Rock released Netflix special Selective Outrage and co-starred in civil rights drama Rustin.
In 2005, autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris premiered on television. Broadcast on Channel 5 in the UK, the show portrays a semi-fictionalized version of Rock’s childhood. Tyler James Williams portrayed a teenage Rock, alongside Terry Crews as father Julius, Tichina Arnold as mother Rochelle, Tequan Richmond as younger brother Drew, Imani Hakim as younger sister Tonya and Vincent Martella as Rock’s school friend Greg.

CBS Studios is looking to its past for its latest reboot.
The company is developing a cartoon reboot of Everybody Hates Chris.
The live-action iteration first launched on Upn in 2005 before moving to The CW, but it was canceled after four seasons in 2009.

The original series starred Tyler James Williams (The Walking Dead) as young Chris, Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Chris’ father Julius, and Tichina Arnold (The Neighborhood) as Chris’ mother, Rochelle.
The cast also included Tequan Richmond (General Hospital), Imani Hakim (Mythic Quest), and Vincent Martella (Phineas and Ferb).

It might’ve been a Tuesday night in Hollywood, but the “Boomerang” cast, crew and exec. producer Lena Waithe were ready to celebrate “Waithe Wednesdays” at the Bet drama’s second season premiere.

The series stars Holly Taylor, Tequan Richmond, An Li Bogan, Willow Shields, Alex Lange, Noah Grismer, Marguerite Moreau, and David Rogers -- a melange of both traditional actors and digital stars. Blumhouse gave us a jump scare today as they announced that they will drop the Divide/Conquer-produced slasher film Thriller on Netflix on April 14. Following the surprise release of last week’s horror Mercy Black, this is the second time Blumhouse has surprised us with a release date for one of their films.
Written and directed by filmmaker Dallas Jackson and executive produced by RZA, Thriller is cut from the same cloth as classic slasher films like Prom Night and Halloween, but subverts the genre which usually takes place in white suburbia and sets it in modern-day Compton, CA, where teenagers experience an unforgiving cityscape of racism and violence.
Through the a black horror lens, the movie follows the story of an introverted young man named Chauncey Page who is sent to juvenile hall after he accidentally kills a young woman who is part of a group of tormentors that...

"Do you feel sorry about what you did?" The Orchard has debuted the official trailer for an indie drama titled Savage Youth, which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival last year and stopped by a few other small festivals. The second feature from director Michael Curtis Johnson, Savage Youth is set in small town America following a group of young people. Based on a true story, six young lives collide in the most horrific and twisted of ways. Described as a "brutal examination of doomed youth exiled to society's edge." The film stars Grace Victoria Cox, Tequan Richmond, Will Brittain, Chloe Levine, Mitchell Edwards, J. Michael Trautmann, and Sasha Feldman. Looks like yet another forgettable kids-are-crazy indie flick. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Michael Curtis Johnson's Savage Youth, direct from YouTube: The lives of six troubled teens in a racially-divided town take a violent turn when drugs and broken hearts intermix.

Eddie Murphy’s 1992 romantic comedy “Boomerang” begat Bet’s new sequel series, which doesn’t share its predecessor’s outrageous brand of humor. Instead, the new “Boomerang” is the epitome of Millennial cool — stylish and ambitious, but not willing to be defined in any traditional way.
In the original film, womanizing ad exec Marcus Graham (Eddie Murphy) has the tables turned on him by his co-worker Jacqueline (Robin Givens), who then becomes his superior. Eventually, he falls for the talented artist Angela (Halle Berry). At the time, the film was a revelation of representation — depicting black excellence in a hilarious, heightened environment and boasting a killer supporting cast, including Martin Lawrence, David Alan Grier, Grace Jones, John Witherspoon, Eartha Kitt, and Chris Rock.

Fans of the 1992 romantic comedy “Boomerang” who are looking to see the original film’s cast appear on Bet’s upcoming sequel series shouldn’t hold their breath.
Well, no, you might see executive producer Halle Berry reprising her role. But as far as everyone else goes? We’ll have to wait and see, because Berry hasn’t asked her former co-stars to appear on Lena Waithe’s updated take on “Boomerang.”
“You might see me at some point,” Berry told reporters during the Television Critics Association press tour Monday, with a little laugh.

The 1992 romantic comedy Boomerang was the last big hit of Eddie Murphy’s remarkable 10-year run as one of the world’s biggest movie stars. In it, Murphy plays Marcus Graham, a commitment-phobic ad executive with impossibly high standards for his conquests (he rejects one gorgeous woman because her feet have bunions), who falls into a love triangle with the similarly ruthless Jacqueline (Robin Givens) and the sweet Angela (Halle Berry). The film isn’t one of the best of that period for Murphy. But it was one of the...

There are plenty of questions to be asked about what’s in store for television in the year 2019. Will Netflix be able to keep up with the scale of production they’ve established recently? One thing that’s known for sure: There’s going to be some really exciting stuff to watch (however you might end up watching it). Blumhouse has released the first trailer for their upcoming new horror/slasher film called Thriller. The movie takes a very familiar plot that we’ve seen a hundred times before in horror movies, but this time is set in South Central La, or more specifically… Compton.
Thriller follows the story of an introverted young man named Chauncey Page who is sent to juvenile hall after he accidentally kills a young woman who is part of a group of tormentors that play a cruel prank on him. Years later he is released and is back for revenge — and blood — as Chauncey (Jason Woods) serves up some murderous karma as the group, now in high school, gets ready for Homecoming. Dressed in a hoodie and a menacing glare, he terrorizes them picks them off one by one.
If you’re a fan of slasher movies then this might be a film that you’ll enjoy.

"Can't believe they just let him out like that." An official trailer has debuted for an indie horror thriller film titled simply Thriller, from writer/director Dallas Jackson. This has no relation to the Michael Jackson music video for "Thriller", which is actually getting an IMAX 3D re-release this year. This Thriller is about a childhood prank that comes back to haunt a clique of South Central Los Angeles teens when their victim returns during Homecoming weekend. This stars Jessica Allain, Luke Tennie, Tequan Richmond, Paige Hurd, Mykelti Williamson, and RZA. This is premiering at the La Film Festival underway right now. It reminds a bit of I Know What You Did Last Summer, about a killer getting some revenge. See below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Dallas Jackson's Thriller, direct from YouTube: Years after a childhood prank goes horribly wrong, a clique of South Central La...
