Tushar Sarmalkar(I)

Born and brought up in Mumbai, I have completed my education in Bachelor of Mass Media (Journalism) and pursued my love for photography by excelling my skills with J.J School of Arts. I have consecutively worked in the world of stills, films, and television as a Photographer and Director of Photography. It's a great deal of honor for me to pursue the career that is so dear to me. Over the years in this industry, my work has enabled me to experience many diverse locations and observe the workings of various cultures which has contributed to the style that reflects in my work. Not to skip the fact that I've been blessed to meet some amazingly skillful people in my journey. Pertaining in this industry has taught me how to meet the tightest of schedules without letting the quality of the product take a hit. I've developed an understanding of both budget and timescale without ever compromising on the final output of any project I've ever worked on.

Moving to the technical front of this, I've experience working with all formats, from 35mm film to solid-state formats of the Arri Alexa, Red Epic, and the likes of 5D. I am capable of providing a full kit including lights and transport for shoots as per requirements. I have been in awe of my profession as it allows me to explore and collaborate with people of all kinds. But more than anything, the industry intrigues me because it enables me to work so closely with lights, both natural and artificial to capture the most beautiful frames. Light in all its manifestations is at the very heart and structure of life and the universe we live in. Understanding how to work with it will always assure stunning frames no matter what the message might be. My love for lights and experience has taught me a lesson that always stuck with me.
