R.D. Smith(III)

Ronald Smith (AKA R. D. Smith) is an award-winning screenwriter/author living in Southern California. His combination of eclectic careers and education-deputy sheriff, politician, professor, graphic designer/illustrator, court bailiff, biological field and museum research, and law-gives Smith a diverse understanding of life and the relationships of people. With the knowledge of cognitive science and how the human mind works, Smith has learned how best to create a story that will position itself in the minds of the target audience.

Smith's writing career runs the gamut from a columnist for the largest daily newspaper in California, marketing and branding, TV and radio commercials, non-profit positioning, speech writing, to government policy and law. His genres of writing include: culinary, travel, essay, poetry, screenplays, stage plays, mission statements, short stories, non-fiction, and speeches. He has won over 12 national and international awards for writing and communications including second place national champion for readers theatre.

Smith's new book "In Search of the Vintage Tiles of Catalina Island: An Easter Egg Hunt in a Sea of Easter Eggs" was published in February, 2023.

Smith is a graduate of UCLA's Feature Film Screenwriting Writers' Program.
