- Rey Valera was born on March 4, 1954 in Meycauayan, Bulacan, Luzon, Philippines. He is a composer and actor, known for Tayong dalawa (1992), Pangako sa'yo (2015) and Maging sino ka man (1991).
- He received the Lifetime Achievement for Music in the 8th Tinig Awards from The National Press Club.
- When Viva Records sought to revive the career of 'Sharon Cuneta' as a singer, it was through an album of Valera's hits called "Sharon Sings Valera" in 1992. Cuneta always mention Rey Valera whenever she has a concert, owing a big part of her success to the famous singer-songwriter who composed her launching hit, "Mr. DJ".
