Jhon Doria
- Actor
- Sound Department
- Producer
Jhon was born in White Plains, NY, and raised in Yonkers, and Greenwich, CT. He has been passionate about movies since he was a child, and always knew he would be an actor.
He attended Boston College, and majored in both theatre and philosophy. It was during his time at BC, that he also became interested in writing and directing.
After graduating college, he worked for Warner Brothers on the Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Eraser", in both NY and LA, as a set PA, and an assistant in the wardrobe department.
From there, he spent the next few years working on independent films, as an actor, writer, director and producer. It was during this time that he met legendary actor/comedian Alan King, who became his mentor in the entertainment industry for several years.
In addition, he continued his work in the theatre, acting in several off-Broadway productions, including the premiere of "Soft Click of a Switch" by Carter W. Lewis, as "Ed".
Since the end of 2001, Jhon has been living in LA, continuing to work as an actor, writer, director and producer.
His plays "Dreamland" and "Savannah Hammer" debuted in LA, and, in 2006, he was one of the first writer/directors to venture into the (then new) medium of web series. He is the creator of "The Dopler Effect", a sci-fi/thriller web series that first aired in 2007, and deals with the subject matter of The Singularity and Transhumanism.
In 2008, he went on to write, direct, produce & act in the crime drama "The Grind".
At the end of 2010, he began directing commercials and music videos, including commercials for Jack Daniel's and DISH Network, as well as the music video for "All The Way" by Abandon Jalopy (the solo project of Brad Smith, founding member and bassist of Blind Melon).
In 2014, his short film (writer/director) "Don't Creep Up" won Best Horror Short at the Downtown LA Film Festival.
Jhon is also an avid musician (singer/songwriter). In the summer of 2015, he will be releasing an EP under the name "Federal Dog". The project features four original songs written by him, as well as two covers. The project features Jhon on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Brad Smith (Blind Melon/Unified Theory/Abandon Jalopy) on bass and backing vocals, Kevin Haaland (Skillet/Abandon Jalopy) on lead guitar, and Dave Krusen (Pearl Jam/Unified Theory) on drums. Brad and Kevin each produce three tracks apiece.
As of 2015, Jhon is working on "The Reveal"; a series created by friend and collaborator, John Lacy. Jhon is both acting in (as hitman Butch), and contributing music for, the series. As of May, 2015, his song "1,000 Eyes" won best original song by the IndieFEST film awards.
