- Helen studied English at Goldsmith's College, University of London and after graduating got her first break working as a Runner on a short film written by Tony Grisoni, 'Ebbtide'. After stints working at the British Film Institute on the 1993 London Film Festival and as a coordinator on the 1995 BFI Awards, Helen went to work as an assistant to Producer Eric Abraham at Portobello Pictures.
In 1997 Helen produced her first short film 'Daphne & Apollo' (Directed by Claire Kilner) commissioned by Film4 and BBC Films and starring John Michie and Abigail McKern and then produced further short films including 'The Piano Tuner' (Directed by Jill Robertson) starring Hugh Laurie and Steve Furst; and 'Terrible Kisses' (Directed by Jill Robertson) starring Jack Davenport and Saffron Burrows.
Helen has worked in Production in a variety of roles but with the advent of digital technology decided to focus on Post Production and went on to Post Supervise films including 'This is England'; 'Boy A'; 'Control'; 'Africa United'; 'Killing Bono' and 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen'.
In 2006, Helen interviewed 21 film producers about their films and careers, to explore the multifaceted and sometimes under-appreciated complexity of the role for the book 'What I Really Want to do is Produce', published by Faber & Faber (UK) and Farrar Straus and Giroux (US).
In 2016 Helen Produced the documentary, 'She's French' (Directed by Charlotte Seegers) that explores the myths, obsessions and representation of French women in popular culture. The film will launch on NETFLIX in the UK and Europe in February, 2022.
