During the DC Comics crossover Absolute Power, Amanda Waller made the world think heroes were committing crimes worldwide. Then, her Task Force VII stole powers from heroes and villains across Earth Prime and kept them for themselves. To make things worse, Waller was helped by Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and Batman’s android, Failsafe. Of course, the heroes eventually fought back. With Nightwing leading, the heroes attacked Waller and took their planet back.

Green Arrow is one of DC's most legendary superheroes. A member of the Justice League and one of the brand's most long-standing characters, Oliver Queen has been protecting Star City - and the world - since 1941. In recent years, he's more well-known to TV audiences due to the success of his small screen adaptations in both Smallville and Arrow.

The second of those spawned an entire franchise, with The CW's Arrowverse becoming one of the most successful superhero shared universes the live-action medium has seen. And it all started with a darker, broodier Emerald Archer who was praised for his more grounded adaptation. It was a game-changer, but it also strayed from the source material quite a bit - particularly the character's early stories.

Green Arrow's early stories highlight how fun he is

While Green Arrow's more mature adaptations have been great, his classic self is one of DC's most light hearted and fun characters.

The Bam Smack Pow comic book fighting tournament continues. The second set of fights were all about the supervillains. Unlike the superheroes bracket 9which produced some surprising results), most of the winners there made sense.

Shocking to no one, Doomsday destroyed Homelander in the voting (84%-16%), while En Sabah Nur won against Omni-Man (59%-41%). Voters believed in Black Adam more than Sentry (25%-75%). I was shocked that Thragg lost to Gorr the God Butcher (29%-71%). Loki took a major victory over Lobo (81%-19%). Sinestro took a beating against Thanos (95%-5%). Brainiac lost to Injustice Superman (24%-76%). Lastly, in the most dominant win so far, Darkseid defeated Anissa by a whopping 98%.

The DC Universe has plenty of badass hand-to-hand fighters, but later this year, Black Canary will set out to prove herself the best there is at what she does in a new six-issue limited series. 

Titled Black Canary: Best of the Best, Dinah Laurel Lance will set out to prove she's no longer the DC Universe's second-best fighter when she goes head-to-head with Lady Shiva. The third time is indeed the charm, as after the first two parts of the lackluster animated movie adaptation of Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s seminal work Crisis on Infinite Earths, the makers have finally got the recipe right with the final part. Tomorrowverse might not have found a strong reception among seasoned DC fans, but it surely will be remembered for its concluding chapter, as despite taking creative liberties, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three stays true to the core of its source material by reverberating the universal, or, shall we say, multiversal, message of hope! In the Flashpoint comics, there was a really well-placed memorable quote about acceptance, which once again gets reiterated in the climactic moments of the final entry of Tomorrowverse. Worlds lived. Worlds died. And the multiverse was truly never the same.

Official reveals have been slow for James Gunn’s Superman, but new set photos have just dropped that have given fans a look at David Corenswet’s Superman and more. According to rumors, James Gunn will make Green Arrow a part of his Justice League team in the Dcu. The character has a decent fanbase, thanks to Stephen Amell’s eight-season run as Oliver Queen in The CW show, Arrow. Earlier, Zack Snyder tried to include the character in the Dceu, with another actor considered for the role, but it didn’t ultimately work out. Interestingly, rumors also suggest that Dcu will make Black Canary his partner.

Amell expressed interest in reprising the character for a film version, which also didn’t happen probably due to Amell’s personal life troubles. The character Black Canary appeared in the Dceu, played by Jurnee Smollett, in the film Birds of Prey.

The first full-length trailer for Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three has just hit (via Toonado.com), and it teases what looks to be a high-stakes finale to this animated trilogy (and the Tomorrowverse as we know it).

With the Anti-Monitor on the loose, a whole host of heroes assemble to save the Multiverse, but it looks like that will be easier said than done when they also have Lex Luthor to contend with. Several other villains are also spotted, including The Joker, Scarecrow, and Two-Face.

In terms of cameos, the trailer ends with another Batman: The Animated Series tease. Batman Beyond also appears, but perhaps the biggest surprise comes when we return to the world of the Super Friends!

When the news broke during last year's San Diego Comic-Con that the Crisis on Infinite Earths comic book was being turned into a three-part animated movie, DC fans rejoiced.

The CW previously adapted the story for the Arrowverse, but this version had the opportunity to bring together countless animated characters from across the Dcau in an ambitious retelling of the story. Unfortunately, the opening two chapters have been mostly disappointing.

There's still a chance it will end on a high note, of course, and a first look at Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three's cover art has now found its way online (via Toonado.com).

American animated series Young Justice is considered one of the best superhero series ever made. Contrary to its title which suggests that it is an adaptation of Peter David, Todd Dezago, and Todd Nauck’s comic series, the TV series is an original story, set in the DC Universe. It primarily explores the adventures of teenage and young adult superheroes.

Created by Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman, the series features numerous young heroes such as Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis. There are many other animated series based on DC characters, but what sets this one apart is the fact that the creators also intend to give an insight into the mental health of these saviors.

The animated X-Men are about to make their return to TV in "X-Men '97." This Disney+ series is basically a thirty-year-late sixth season of 1992's "X-Men," the first cartoon about the Marvel Comics superhero team.

The "X-Men" comics kept chugging along through highs and lows while their animated counterparts were in limbo, though. At SXSW 2024, Marvel previewed the comics' future. A relaunch is coming to "X-Men" in Summer 2024 under the banner "From The Ashes," the follow-up to the ongoing "Fall of X." There'll be three primary series at first:

Arguably the best Batman and Joker combo in history is getting back together one last time, and the reunion comes as a pretty sizable surprise. Mark Hamill will once again reprise his role as The Joker alongside the late Kevin Conroy's Batman. Conroy voiced the Caped Crusader for decades, from "Batman: The Animated Series" in the early '90s through Conroy's much-too-early death in 2022. We knew Conroy's voice would be used as Batman once again, and now it has been confirmed that Hamill will be reuniting with his former co-star in one of Conroy's final posthumous performances.

Although the 80-page giants generally have been pretty good, especially the wave of books we had celebrating various character anniversaries, DC of late have struggled a little with the anthology books. I should say it’s not just DC, but as once upon a time they were the masters of the format it is most noticeable with them. The mix of creative teams isn’t the issue either. A blend of known names and up-and-comers was always the way DC’s mystery books operated, and it served them very well. What drew me to this book the most was Paul Levitz writing Phantom Stranger (that alone is worth the entrance price), and Tom Mandrake and Kelley Jones illustrating two tales. Let’s hope the other stories can add some scary fun as well.

In the wake of Warner Bros. Discovery abruptly pulling the plug on the nearly complete, Leslie Grace-starring Batgirl movie, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. Pictures confirms for TVLine that the Black Canary standalone movie that was first announced a year ago remains in development at the streamer.
