- During his life he saw about 12,000 films, or 44 millions meter film, "of which possibly already 30 millions I have to forget", as he said. He was promoter, critic but especially also lover of the film medium, and at the same time also a monument of the Flemish television.
- Died while visiting the Cannes Film Festival.
- In 1963, he succeeded Roland Verhavert at the filmmagazine Première. He composed and presented the program until his retirement in 1991. The general public learned to know him as a pleasing man with a large heart for film, which evolved gradually from neutral presentation to mild and slightly ironical film criticism ("in this western the horses played something better then the actors").
- Hosted the movie program Première on the Belgian Flemish Televesion from 1962 until 1991.
