Karine Teles was born in Petrópolis, the daughter of a teacher and a psychologist. At the age of 14 she moved with her family to Maceió, where she began her studies in theater. She entered the technical course at UFAL and, shortly thereafter, in 1993, passed her first audition, for a play. Shortly thereafter, in 1996, she came to Rio to study Performing Arts at UNIRIO. Karine was already an experienced actress when she had her first big success in film. In "Riscado" (2010), in addition to acting, Karine was also a co-writer. For the film, she received some of the most important awards in Brazilian dramaturgy: Kikito, Redentor and APCA. She also received critical acclaim for "Que horas ela volta" (2015), "Benzinho" (2018) and "Bacurau" (2019). Karine starred in "Os Ultimos Dias de Gilda" (Canal Brasil), the first Brazilian TV show to participate in the Berlin Festival (Berlinale Series).
