An awards winning director, writer, painter, musician, producer, and architect by background, Nino Ilacqua began his film career while still a teenager, shooting his first short film "Kempo" in super 8. This was followed by numerous other short films, including "Feel Not Feel," "The Manager and the Sly", "Eight and a Half Minutes," which won the audience award at the Jalari Festival, and by his first feature film "John Fox". In 2023, for the feature film "John Fox" he got the "Best Director" awards at the Hong Kong Indie Film Festival, at the Prague Underground Film Festival and at the Hamburg Indie Film Festival. With the same film he got the "Best First Time Feature Filmmaker" at the Hamburg Indie Film Festival, the " Best First Feature Film" award at the Sweden Film Awards and the "Best International Feature" at the Madrid Arthouse Film Festival. His films have been in the official selections in many festivals around the world, Salerno International Film Festival, Berlin Short Award, Paris International Short Festival, Rotterdam Independent Film Festival, Vienna Indie Short Film Festival and Prague Underground Film Festival among others. With the short movie "H" in 2023 he won the "Best Director in a Short" award at the Dubai Independent Film Festival. With the short movie "Carlo et Charles" in 2023 he won the "Best Screenwriting" at the Sydney Indie Short Festival. For theater, he wrote the historical tragedy "Michelina De Cesare," which was accepted for the Pirandello Prize, and composed, among other things, the stage music for the opera "Glauco".
