The Brady organization against gun violence is calling on Hollywood writers, directors and producers to examine onscreen gun violence and depictions of gun safety, asking the creative community to sign a pledge that’s already garnered more than 200 signatures of such names as Judd Apatow, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The pledge, while noting that the “responsibility lies with lax gun laws supported by those politicians more afraid of losing power than saving lives,” acknowledges that “America’s storytellers” have the power to “effect change.”
“Cultural attitudes toward smoking, drunk driving, seatbelts and marriage equality have all evolved due in large part to movies’ and TV’s influence. It’s time to take on gun safety,” the Brady pledge states, and goes on to ask writers, directors and producers to, whenever possible, to:

If you really want to get weird, just take a look at Anders Holm's Instagram inbox. The Workaholics alum appeared on the newest episode of E!'s Down in the DMs, revealing all sorts of strange messages, from "creepy" audio recordings to the seemingly seductive (which have ramped up after he recently "set the Internet on fire" with a speedo selfie). That said, Holm mostly sticks to chatting with his friends, whether that's in the group message he shares with Adam Devine and Blake Anderson or as part of his ongoing exchange with the Chicago Bears' Kyle Long. "It spawned into something fantastic," Holm said of Long first reaching out....

Amazon has set broadcast crews and other programming on Prime Video and Twitch for what it is billing as a week-long “NFL Holiday Blitz.”
The spree of football starts today and runs through Saturday’s exclusive stream of the San Francisco 49ers-Arizona Cardinals game, which will mark a milestone for Amazon. The company has steadily ramped up its sports offerings in recent years, part of an effort by several major tech firms to leverage the tune-in potency of live game coverage.
On Christmas Day, Prime Video and Twitch (the gaming-centric streaming platform Amazon acquired in 2014) will offer streams of the Minnesota Vikings-New Orleans Saints game. That complementary stream will follow the season’s Thursday night pattern, with Fox and the NFL Network airing the game on linear TV.

Amazon has set a more aggressive game plan to drive viewers to “Thursday Night Football” streaming for the 2020 season, adding several new features and “shoulder programming” for the NFL games available on both Prime Video and Twitch.
The ecommerce giant’s global “Tnf” streaming coverage kicks off this week, featuring the Chicago Bears hosting Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 8:20 p.m. Et (also available on Fox and NFL Network in the U.S.). A man who thought Google shut down his YouTube channel has been arrested after driving across the U.S. to confront employees at Google’s California headquarters.
Kyle Long, who’s 33 and from Waterville, Maine, had three baseball bats in his car when he was arrested a couple of miles from Googleplex in Mountain View, Calif., NBC News reports.
Police became suspicious of Long after a pair of incidents during his cross-country road trip that resulted in him speaking with Iowa police twice. First, he got his car stuck in a ditch and required assistance getting out; then, he vandalized a gas station bathroom and the station's owners contacted police. While speaking with police, Long told a state trooper that he was angry with Google for supposedly shutting down his YouTube channel. He said the channel gave other YouTubers advice about how to boost their view counts and make more money on the site.

Unsolved creator Kyle Long has signed an overall deal with Universal Cable Productions, the studio behind the critically praised USA Network series, to develop and produce premium scripted content for cable and streamers.
The first potential series developed under the deal will be an adaptation of Kris Radish’s book Run, Bambi Run, with Long set to write and executive produce. The book follows the true story of Lawrencia “Bambi” Bembenek, a former Milwaukee police officer, who was suing the department for sexual discrimination when she was arrested and eventually convicted for murdering her husband’s ex-wife. Bembenek insisted she was railroaded and after breaking out of prison became a national folk hero, inspiring the slogan “Run, Bambi, Run.”

No, there’s not about to be an arrest in the cold case from the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, Las Vegas police told TheWrap.
“We are aware of the statements made in the BET interview regarding the Tupac case. As a result of those statements we have spent the last several months reviewing the case in its entirety,” Lt. Ray Spencer, who heads up the Lvmpd Homicide Section, told TheWrap in a statement Thursday. “Various reports that an arrest warrant is about to be submitted are inaccurate. This case still remains an open homicide case.”
So what is this interview they are referencing that has led the Lvmpd to review the case “in its entirety” over the last few months? Well, there was an episode of BET's “Death Row Chronicles” docuseries that aired in February and featured interviews with Keffe D — a Southside Crips member and the late...

When Lyah Beth LeFlore joined USA’s anthology series “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.” as a co-producer and music supervisor, she anticipated one big obstacle: not getting the rights to their music. The estates of both rappers are famously restrictive when it comes to licensing their songs, but LeFlore, who came up in the ‘90s hip-hop scene and knew the rappers personally, already had a plan to work around that.
“Having known and watched their relationship as friends, I didn’t expect to be able to get the music and sort of had the foresight to say, ‘Ok, if we can’t get it, and out of respect for the estates, what do I do?’” LeFlore said during Gold Derby’s Meet the Experts: Music panel, moderated by this author (watch above). “And I knew that it had to have an authentic sound, it had to connect to their legacies,...

“The fact that we’ve never really dealt with their humanity and got to understand them as young men, as well as young artists, is a tragedy in and of itself,” “Unsolved” lead director and executive producer Anthony Hemingway says in an interview with Gold Derby (watch the exclusive video above). The USA Network true crime anthology program, which was subtitled “The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.,” starred Josh Duhamel and Jimmi Simpson.
Referring to the iconic pair of young rappers who were murdered separately in the 1990s as “two little kids really,” Hemingway explains, “Those two had voices that really spoke loudly about what was happening in their reality and just w[ere]n’t heard. We are going through it again today. Kendrick Lamar is that right now, Childish Gambino is that right now and these voices are sounding alarms and we need to take heed and listen.

Tonight, Season 1 of USA Network’s scripted true crime series “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.” will end with an episode titled “Unsolved?” That sounds about right for creator Kyle Long, who believes it is actually pretty obvious what happened here. At least in the case of the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.
“I would say, in regards to the Tupac murder, I think it’s — you know — very clear what happened,” Long told TheWrap in an interview last week. “There’s elements of it that are questionable, but certainly Keffe D and the Southside Crips killed Tupac Shakur. And it is outrageous that Keffe D is not in jail. And that should be in the article.”
“In the [‘Unsolved’] finale, when you see why the whole Keffe D thing, how he had immunity and that — long story short, in real life and in the television show, he had immunity to make this confession to the task force,” Long said of the Southside Crips member and the late Orlando Anderson’s uncle, real name Duane Keith Davis. “When the task force fell apart he still had immunity.”

“But this guy, this year — no one is talking about this, but I guess people just don’t care about Tupac Shakur, a young black man — he, this guy goes on a documentary this year and tells a version of the same story, he tries to go all cute and say, ‘I don’t know who triggered there,'” Long said. “But he talked about being in the car with the Crips, they specifically went to hunt [Tupac] down and then Tupac gets shot, you just have to say who pulled the trigger.”
However, Long says it ultimately “doesn’t matter that he doesn’t say who pulled the trigger.”
“He went live on television and confessed to being an accessory to murder and the Las Vegas Pd, as far as I know, is doing nothing about it,” Long continued. “And I just think it’s outrageous. I just don’t understand it. It makes me upset. And it’s just crazy town to me. It is so wild that a guy can — and I don’t know what kind of lawyer he has telling him to go on this television show and talk about it, but you know, it’s crazy. So that’s my rant about Keffe D and the Tupac murder, like to me, that murder, you could go arrest someone for that right now.”

Long is referencing an episode of Bet’s “Death Row Chronicles” docuseries which aired in February and featured interviews with Davis and former Lapd detective Greg Kading about Shakur’s murder.
Kading, who wrote the book “Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations,” is one of the key characters in the show “Unsolved” (played by Josh Duhamel), as he led investigations into the murders of Shakur and Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls. He is also a co-executive producer on the USA series.
Multiple attempts by TheWrap to reach Davis for comment for this story were unsuccessful. All phone calls made to numbers associated with Davis went unreturned or led to disconnected lines. Emails sent to addresses associated with Davis and his relatives went unanswered. Both Bet and NBCUniversal did not have current contact information for Davis. Attempts to locate contact information for Davis through arrest records and to reach Wayne Higgins — an attorney who is listed in court documents as having previously represented Davis — were also unsuccessful.

In particular, it’s been nearly forgotten that despite all the hype of an East Coast/West Coast rap war at the time, Tupac and Biggie were initially pals — and respected each other’s craft.
USA’s new series “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.,” focuses on the failed investigations into the murders of both hip-hop stars, killed when they were in their 20s and at the height of their fame. Moving to Los Angeles shortly before the murder of Christopher Wallace—also known as Biggie, or The Notorious B.I.G.—writer Kyle Long became fascinated by the rapper’s untimely end, and its handling in the media. The massive baby, sponsored by Geico, hits the court at halftime wearing nothing more than an oversized diaper, bib and crown. The disproportionate size of the head compared to the skinny arms and legs of the person in the mascot's costume makes for a horror movie-like sight.
