He began his media career by collaborating with director Jeff Lieberman to rewrite the horror film Just Before Dawn (1981) in one weekend (for which he was end-credited as "Background Research"). In addition, Ric wrote the screenplay for Films of Fury: The Kung Fu Movie Movie (2011) -- plus the book it was based on (Films of Fury: The Kung Fu Movie Book) -- as well as contributed to more than 300 martial art movie DVDs while appearing on A&E Biography (2001-2003), Bravo Profiles (2002), The Incredibly Strange Film Show (1987-1988), and Iron Fist & Kung Fu Kicks (2019).
Ric has been inducted into multiple international Martial Art Halls of Fame, as well as been given special awards from the Mystery Writers and Science Fiction Writers of America. And, if asked nicely, he'll even appear in a few movies (like The Suppressor and Black Day).
