Chrisa Spilioti was born in Athens. She was an actor, a director, and a playwright. She graduated from the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece, she attended improvisation courses in France and worked as an actor for many years performing important roles under the directions of Giorgos Sevastikoglou, Minoas Volanakis, Giorgos Michailidis, Giannis Chouvardas, Vagelis Theodoropoulos, Niketis Kontouri, Giannis Margaritis and others. She has been among the executive members of George Michailidis' "Open Theatre" and "Spring Theatre", she has cooperated with Amore "Theatre of the South", "Theatre of Kefallinias Street", "National Theatre of Greece", "Free Theatre" and many others.
She took part in many television series and some movies.
She turned to play writing since 1996. Her plays are released by "Sokoli," "Dodoni" and "Kastaniotis" publications, while her collection of short stories Lost Right is released by "Kedros" publications.
Her play Who Discovered America? has had 30 different stage performances and has been translated into seven languages (English, French, Polish, German, Croatian, Dutch, Portuguese) and is featured in Polish in the selective works of Greek texts "Z Parnasu I Olimpu", while Fire and Water has been translated in English and has been presented at Tristan Bates Theatre in London.
She has a longtime experience in teaching play writing seminars at the "Theater of Changes," at the International Theatre Institute, at the Faculty of Theatre Studies in the University of Athens, at the Theatre of Cyprus and at Cyprus' "Open Theatre."
Students of her seminars have presented her plays on stages in Athens and Nicosia.
She has worked for many years for the radio, as a broadcast producer and a copywriter, mostly for the state-owned public radio (ERT), as well as for private radio.
She has written screenplays for television shows for ERT, as well as scripts for many children's shows for ERT.
She was also involved in teen theatre and has worked with many teen theatre groups.
Chrisa died on 23rd of July 2018 at the deadly Wildfires in Attica.
