Michael DeLuca (Giuseppe Michele Luca) was born in Brooklyn, New York
and was the first American-born child of Italian parents, Gaetano Luca
(DeLuca) and Giuseppina DeLuca. His father was one of the
most-acclaimed shoe designers of his time and came to America under
contract to work for retail giant, "Saks Fifth Avenue". Gaetano had
numerous articles in Time Magazine and the New York Times, that touted
his genius as a designer.
Michael DeLuca (Giuseppe Michele Luca) returned to Italy with his wife, Rosemarie, and their young family of five children. DeLuca studied at the prestigious medical school in Pisa, Italy. He remained in Pisa for 25+ years and worked as a pharmacist before returning to the US. During his years there, he and his wife starred in multiple stage productions and "E i cannoni tuonano ancora" or "Which way do you dig" was his first feature film. He is the father of actor/filmmaker Dan De Luca of HBO's The Wire (2002), Crazy Eights (2006) and Rocket Science (2007).
