Fixing his smile was just one thing Ben Affleck had to transform for Michael Bay’s film Armageddon. It’s not often discussed, but the beauty standards for male actors in Hollywood are just as skewed. The transformation demanded of Affleck for this movie went beyond just his appearance.

His iconic boy-next-door look, which had endeared him to audiences, was deemed too ordinary for a film about an apocalyptic threat. He had to adopt a look that was equally extraordinary, one that could match this out-of-this-world film.

Landing the lead role in a Hollywood blockbuster often means more than just acing the lines, especially when one is working with a director like Michael Bay, who’s as obsessed with aesthetics.

With a title like Life After Fighting, you might think this is a documentary about the lives of boxers and Mma competitors once they’ve left the ring for the last time. Instead, it’s a somewhat misnamed action film about Alex Faulkner a former competitive fighter who now runs a dojo. But we know he’s not done with fighting, or rather it’s not done with him, otherwise this would be a damn short movie.
Much of the film’s first half-hour revolves around Alex and his budding romance with Samantha who he meets when she brings her son Terry (Anthony Nassif) in for classes. It also leads to the film’s first fight when her possessive ex, Victor sics his massive buddy Milan on him.

There are very few people who know more about the history of ancient Rome than Mike Duncan. The creator and host of the tremendously popular History of Rome podcast, which first aired between 2007 and 2012, Duncan has essentially devoted his career to studying the inner workings of the Roman empire, also writing a book, The Storm Before the Storm, which appeared on The New York Times Best Seller List, on the topic.

Kellan Lutz, Mickey Rourke featured in new poster for Java Heat This is actually one of the most popular films we have in our database at the moment and tells of an American in Indonesia who joins forces with a Muslim cop in order to hunt down a terrorist. Connor Allyn, whom I must confess, I've never heard of before, but best of luck to him anyway, directs the film, as well as scripting alongside sibling (I assume) Rob Allyn. Also in the cast are Ario Bayu, Rio Dewanto, Uli Auliani, Mike Duncan and Atiqah Hasiholan. IFC Films distributes the actioner from Margate House, in association with Im Global. Check out all the images (recently updated) from the movie below as well.
