French cinematographer Laurent Tangy has lensed numerous films including the French thriller L'Événement (The Happening) which won the Golden Lion award at the 2021 Venice Film Festival. It was directed by Audrey Diwan for France 3 Cinema.
Tangy is most recognized for his collaborations with director Cédric Jimenez for the feature films The Connection (2014), starring Jean Dujardin, a sweeping mafia picture shot in 35mm, and for 2017's The Man with the Iron Heart, starring Rosamund Pike Jason Clarke, Jack O'Connell and Mia Wasikowska. Tangy also shot the (2015-2016) Franco-British TV crime drama The Last Panthers, which was a BAFTA nominee for Best Drama in 2016. Directed by Johan Renck, the movie starred Samantha Morton. The seriocomedy Le Grand Bain (Sink or Swim) that he shot with director Gilles Lellouche, was selected for the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and earned him a 2019 Cesar Award Nomination for Best Cinematography.
Tangy is also well known for Unleashed (2005), The Transporter (2002), Wasabi (2001) and Kiss of the Dragon (2001).
His upcoming feature - L'Amour Et Les Forêts (Just The Two Of Us) - directed by Valérie Donzelli - is slated for release in 2023.
Other recent credits include Mascarade, the French comedy-drama which he shot for director Nicolas Bedos for Canal+, , and the 2021 French comedy/adventure feature OSS 117: Alerte Rouge en Afrique Noire, which he shot with director Nicolas Bedos for Mandarin Films.
Tangy also worked on the 2020 action/thriller BAC Nord (The Stronghold) for director Cédric Jimenez for StudioCanal. The film was nominated for seven Cesar awards. He served as the DP for 2019's #Iamhere, directed by Eric Lartigau for Rectangle Productions, and for the 2019 horror film Get In, directed by Olivier Abbou for Netflix.
Born and raised in Paris, Tangy began his career in documentaries. In 2006 he began shooting music videos. His video for Justice won an MTV award He has since shot commercials for world-class brands such as Cartier, Chanel, Armani, YSL, Louis Vuitton, Dior, L'Oreal and Coca-Cola.
Laurent is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
