Election Day is here, and the major news networks are prepared for a long night — and potentially a long week.
With over 50 million people early voting in the 2024 Presidential Election, Tuesday night will offer plenty of results to thumb through even if an ultimate winner isn’t called until later in the week, and most of the news networks will kick off their election night coverage at 6 p.m. Et, with CNN even starting at 12 a.m. Et while NBC News begins at 5 p.m. Et.
MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki will return to the Big Board — and will even be livestreamed on Peacock and other social platforms — while Fox News will see Bill Hemmer steering the “Bill”-board.
Most networks have scheduled eight hours of election night programming from 6 p.m. Et to 2 a.m. Et, with a result for the presidential showdown between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump not expected immediately.

Alec Baldwin “really liked” returning to “Saturday Night Live” last month to impersonate Bret Baier, the Fox News host told “Fox & Friends” on Monday.
Recalling an impromptu Sunday night run-in with the Emmy-winning actor, Baier said that Baldwin approached him in the middle of dinner and was “gracious” in their “nice conversation.”
Baldwin memorably played Baier in a spoof of the journalist’s interview with Vice President Kamala Harris in the Oct. 19 episode of “SNL,” marking his return to the sketch comedy series since his four-year stint playing former President Donald Trump — and his legal battle in the aftermath of the fatal “Rust” shooting.
“You don’t have to answer, but you told me in the green room about a brush with a celebrity. Do you want to reveal this?” Steve Doocy asked while closing out Monday’s “Fox & Friends” segment with the “Special Report With Bret Baier” host.

Fox News host Bret Baier has admitted the wrong clip with Donald Trump talking about his “the enemy from within” claims rolled during his exclusive Special Report interview with Kamala Harris, which prompted a stern rebuke from the U.S. Vice President.
Talking on Thursday with Fox News panelists Harris Faulkner and Harold Ford Jr. during his weeknight newscast, Baier said: “Harold, I did make a mistake, and I want to say I did make a mistake. When I called for a soundbite, I was expecting a piece of the ‘enemy from within’ from Maria Bartiromo’s interview, to be tied to the piece from your town hall, Harris, where you ask the former president about the enemy from within. It just had the piece about the town hall.”

The media tried to keep the current President and the former one on a short leash Thursday evening, but failed in many ways to keep them in check.
In a unorthodox presidential debate that focused more on optics than substance, a visibly shaky President Joe Biden clashed with a manipulative Donald Trump, who kept his temper but used the time allotted him by CNN to largely avoid moderators’ questions and instead spew a host of inaccuracies. leaving his opponent ill-matched to combat him on screen.
CNN’s moderators, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, did keep both candidates on better behavior than others have in the past. CNN’s ability to cut the microphones of Trump and Biden assisted the duo in maintaining order. But it didn’t help them prod candidate Trump to answer important questions that were put directly to him, including his stance on climate change or whether...

Have you heard it’s cold in Des Moines? The subzero temperatures are making Monday’s caucuses in Iowa the coldest on record, a running theme of coverage throughout the day and into this evening. It’s not trivial, as the frigid weather may very well impact turnout.
As Iowa’s first votes of the 2024 presidential race come in, expect a lot of analysis, punditry and prediction, even if the results represent just a sliver of the primary electorate. The Hawkeye state’s primacy as the first-in-the-nation often obscures the peculiarities of the caucus system, unless there is some kind of glitch, which is what happened four years ago with the Democrats.
That said, networks see the caucuses as the kickoff of what is hoped a spike in viewer interest in the presidential contest, as was seen in 2020 and 2016. All of the broadcast networks are planning for ongoing coverage of...

Updated: Geraldo Rivera said in a Twitter message that he has been fired from The Five and is leaving Fox News.
“I’m not going to be on The Five. I’ve been fired from The Five and as a result of that, I quit Fox,” he said.
Rivera said he would have more to say on Fox & Friends on Friday morning.
Rivera had been among the rotating series of panelists to fill the liberal seat on The Five, which is the most-watched show on cable news.
Last week, Rivera told the AP that he quit The Five “because there was “a growing tension that goes beyond editorial differences and personal annoyances and gripes.” Rivera sparred on the show with Greg Gutfeld, whose show Gutfeld! is being moved into a primetime berth next month. Geraldo Rivera has called Fox News his home since leaving CNBC in 2001 to join the cable outlet as its ostensible war correspondent. He appears to have a lost a recent battle.
After being ousted from a rotation on “The Five,” Rivera said in a video post on Twitter Thursday, he is leaving Fox News. “I’ve been fired from ‘The Five,’ and as a result, I quit Fox,” the veteran TV personality said, while riding a boat. He said he might appear on “Fox & Friends” Friday to offer more comment, but would not be appearing on “The Five” one last time, as he had previously indicated he would.
“We reached an amicable conclusion with Geraldo over the past few weeks, and look forward to celebrating him tomorrow on ‘Fox & Friends,’ which will be his last appearance on the network,” Fox News said in a statement Thursday evening.

Update: Geraldo Rivera said that he will announce next week whether he will stay with Fox News or move on to something else.
Rivera announced earlier this week that he was leaving a regular gig on Fox News’ The Five, but that he was still a correspondent at large for the network.
On Twitter, Rivera wrote on Friday that he was “unsure about my next career move.” He previously said that his contract runs through 2025. Rivera spoke to Brian Kilmeade for his Wabc radio show. Kilmeade is a co-host of Fox News’ Fox & Friends.

The series, which has been running since 2011, boasts some of cable news’ highest ratings. “Morning, it’s official, I’m off @TheFive. Loquacious Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera will soon have less to talk about.
The veteran will leave his slot as one of the “liberal” panelists on “The Five,” he announced via Twitter on Wednesday, ceding ground, presumably, to Jessica Tarlov and Harold Ford, Jr., the two other personalities who regularly occupy the seat on the show. “The Five” is Fox News Channel’s most-watched program, and executives are known to take a distinct interest in how the panelists mesh on screen.
“Morning, it’s official, I’m off @TheFive,” Rivera posted. “My last scheduled show appearances are Thursday and Friday June 29th and 30th. It’s been a great run and I appreciate having had the opportunity. Being odd man out isn’t always easy. For the time being, I’m still Correspondent at Large.”
A spokesperson for Fox News could not be reached for immediate comment on Rivera’s status at the network.

Geraldo Rivera is set to leave The Five, Fox News’ afternoon panel show.
He revealed the news on social media, stating his last scheduled appearances would be on the June 29 and 30 shows. “It’s been a great run and I appreciate having had the opportunity,” Rivera wrote in part. “Being odd man out isn’t always easy. For the time being, I’m still Correspondent at Large.”
Also Wednesday, during an interview with The Associated Press, Rivera explained friction in front and behind the cameras on The Five led to his decision to quit the series. “There has been a growing tension that goes beyond editorial differences and personal annoyances and gripes. It’s not worth it to me,” he said.
The Five features a rotating cast of co-hosts from across Fox’s lineup, including Jesse Watters, Dana Perino, Greg Gutfeld and Jeanine Pirro, in freewheeling conversation about the issues of the day.

Fox News host Jesse Watters is getting dragged online for claiming he could tell that a group of people he saw digging through bins looking for recyclables on his way to work was an “illegal immigration family.”
On the latest episode of Fox News’ roundtable talk series “The Five,” which features Watters, Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino, Jeanine Pirro and rotating hosts Jessica Tarlov, Geraldo Rivera and Harold Ford Jr., the group shared their thoughts on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s reported migrant busing plan. According to reports, destinations include Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Chicago — all run Black mayors, as NYC Mayor Eric Adams pointed out.
“The mayor here is complaining about a couple thousand, with more resources than any other city in the entire country? That’s ridiculous,” Watters said. “Now, I saw on the way into work an illegal immigration family digging through the trash looking for recyclables.

When Super Bowl Lvii arrives on Sunday, Fox is prepared to broadcast hours and hours of the event, with all of the usual trappings — except, perhaps, one.
With just three days to go before the Kansas City Chiefs square off against the Philadelphia Eagles at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the White House has yet to commit to the traditional interview between the President of the United States and the news division of the media company broadcasting the gridiron classic, potentially shunning a conversation that would be seen by one of TV’s biggest audiences. Fox News attached no conditions to the exchange according to a person familiar with the matter, which has been a staple of the event (more or less) since President Barack Obama started doing it in 2009.
A final decision has yet to be announced, and there is still a chance the conversation could take place.

MSNBC's Pat Buchanan attempted to justify the Republican position of not accepting a debt compromise with President Obama by suggesting that the last Republican to go along with such a deal was President George H.W. Bush and his reward for raising taxes was one term. Yet none of the other Morning Joe guests in the discussion including MSNBC contributors Ed Rendell, Harold Ford Jr., Mike Barnicle and Jonathan Capehart were buying Buchanan's argument that Republicans were taking a "principled position."...

The New York Times has a delightful postmortem today about Harold Ford Jr.’s proto-failed senatorial campaign. Step one had been convincing people to vote for him instead of his opponent. This much he had known he had to do. And so, energized with votes of confidence from his fancy pals Ron Perelman and Steve Rattner, Ford traveled from city to city, fruitlessly trying to persuade people to turn on incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand: Rubén Díaz Jr., the Bronx borough president, told Mr. Ford between bites of an omelet at a diner near his office, ‘It’s difficult to make a strong case against her here.’ Ms. Gillibrand, he explained, had just secured $4 million worth of federal stimulus money to train his constituents for green jobs. Mr. Ford knew that some liberals would attack his relatively conservative voting record but, those he spoke with said, he was taken aback by the...

G.W. must admit that he saw it in Junior’s eyes as they sparred over a late breakfast at the Big Daddy Diner in Manhattan this January for V.F.’s April issue. But now it’s official. Harold Ford Jr.—the former Tennessee congressman and recent New York transplant who bears a striking resemblance to Derek Jeter—announced yesterday that he will not be pursuing Kristen Gillibrand’s Senate seat later this fall. Was his faux campaign all along just a publicity stunt so he could score a table at Per Se? Well, G.W. asked him just that—among other probing questions. Here is our conversation.

As the MPAA continues its search for a new chairman and CEO, Bob Pisano, one of the likely internal candidates for the position, is taking the top post on an interim basis.
The move for Pisano, who has served as president and COO of the Hollywood lobby group since 2005, was announced Friday as MPAA head Dan Glickman said he will step down April 1 to become president of Refugees International.
Before joining the MPAA, Pisano served as national executive director and CEO of SAG and held executive posts at MGM and Paramount.
It's not clear when the search for a new MPAA head will yield a shortlist of candidates. The agency's board earlier hired executive search firm Korn/Ferry International to run the process. On Friday, the MPAA only said it is continuing the search for a new, permanent head.
Another possible contender, Harold Ford Jr., is seen as having lost...

Vincent Morgan has an uphill battle to unseat Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel -- he can't even get the support of his look-alike cousin, Harold Ford Jr., who is weighing a challenge against that other pillar of the Democratic Party establishment, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. Morgan's family tie to Ford had not been reported previously. But blood evidently isn't thicker than water in blue states. "Harold loves his cousin, but he supports The Dean [Rangel]," Ford's spokesman, Davidson Goldin, told Page Six yesterday. Morgan, 40, is the son of Harold's uncle, John Ford, the...

Former Democratic Rep. Harold Ford Jr. has emerged as the early front-runner among studios to succeed Hollywood's top lobbyist Dan Glickman, who has made it official that he will depart as MPAA chairman and CEO when his contract expires in 10 months.
With Glickman's contract expiring Sept. 1, he informed the MPAA board of his decision Monday after an interview with Politico published late Sunday.
Although the formal search process has not began, Ford has started lobbying studios. But there are other names being bandied about, and additional contenders are sure to emerge during a complex recruitment process that requires a candidate to win the approval of all six major studios.
As chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council, Ford, 39, has more than youth and a record of activity in the black community on his side. He also is well-liked and has a reputation for being a good speaker. His political career has...

New York - Dan Glickman has made it official that he will leave the post of MPAA chairman and CEO when his contract expires in Sept. 2010.
He divulged the plan in a conversation with Politico.com, which published the report late Sunday.
The news comes after the quiet departures of several MPAA executives over last few months and repeated industry criticism that his record has been mixed at best.
His early heads-up is likely to lead to some jockeying for positions in the race for his succession.
As likely candidates for the top MPAA post, Politico mentioned the likes of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Rep. Harold Ford Jr., Rep. Howard Berman (D-California), MPAA COO Bob Pisano, the group's federal affairs guru Michael O'Leary, Richard Bates and Universal Music lobbyist Matt Gerson.
Ford is currently favored by most of the studios, but that could change as the competition heats up.

Rush Limbaugh irritated the many Democrats at junk-bond billionaire Michael Milken's annual conference in Beverly Hills Tuesday night -- especially John Landis. The "Animal House" director was standing in the back of the Beverly Hilton ballroom, next to Post correspondent David Finnigan, when the bombastic conservative graded President Obama "barely a D." Landis stuck his tongue out and loudly razzed the talkmeister and walked out. Obama got an A and an A- from the Democrats on the panel,...
