Swedish original series “Veronika” has been renewed for a second season at SkyShowtime, Variety can confirm.
Starring Alexandra Rapaport (“Honour”) and Tobias Santelmann (“The Arctic Convoy”), the crime drama sees Rappaport return as police officer Veronika Gren. Santelmann plays her husband Tomas.
Season 1 saw Veronika set out to uncover the murder of two teenage girls while juggling her own complicated family life and secret pill addiction.
The second season will follow the police officer as she continues to struggle with her past as well as mysterious visions, all while impatiently waiting to resume her role in the police force.
“As the series unfolds, she finds herself in the middle of a dark and perplexing murder mystery, rooting back 60 years in time,” reads the logline. “As Veronika is torn between the world of living and the dead, her facade begins to crack. An inevitable chain of events puts everything she’s worked to rebuild at risk.
