Ivo Kirkov
- Actor
Ivo Kirkov (born 2013) is a Bulgarian child actor starring in the TV series Stolen Life (2016), the Spanish historical series El corazón del Imperio (2021), the musical film "Vazov's Songs", the documentary series "Germany In" and others. He's known for the fact he has learned to read at the age of 2.
Ivo is growing up as a smart but more introverted child. At age of about 1 year and 2 months he starts to recognize letters and numbers which he learned from children's animated songs, but he's still unable to talk thus he can only point at them on request. After his 2nd birthday, without any directed effort, Ivo has learned to read by letters and later semantically. His parents are not aware that this is a rare occasion and guided by his kindergarten teachers upload a video of the above which becomes viral and triggers a series of printed & online media articles, interviews for the national TVs and an invitation for Nova TV's morning program. Ivo has variable interests and soon afterwards he shifts his focus to kids' riddles, chess & singing.
At 2017 he's been admitted to the kindergarten of one of the best public schools in Bulgaria, commonly referred as the "Liceo Italiano", founded in 1976 as a school for gifted children and associated with UNESCO. Three years later he's admitted at 4th place to elementary school there, where he's studying under Dr. Iliyana Ermolina to date.
Ivo Kirkov's acting career has started in 2019 with a brief appearance in the short film "Immersion" by Joseph Al-Ahmad. In 2020 he gets his first role in a commercial production, playing the little Publius Claudius Pulcher in the Spanish historical series El corazón del Imperio (2021). At the end of his last shooting day, initiated by the director Israel del Santo, he's applauded by the near-100 team and cast, which very strongly motivates the little Ivo. Since then his acting career is rapidly developing. Less than a month later he gets his next arrangement in the musical film "Vazov's Songs", aired on the national TV for one of the Bulgarian national celebrations. In the same month Ivo lands a role in Bulgaria's most successful TV series Stolen Life (2016) as the son of Dr. Stefan Mazov (Monio Monev) and Dr. Lora Hinova (Desislava Bakardzhieva). A day after Ivo's first aired episode fans and journalists manage to find out that Ivo, who starred as the little Stefan, is actually the same Ivo who has learned to read when he was 2 years old. More media attention follows this, presenting Ivo Kirkov as the new addition to the series' big cast with the hope of his role being continued, which happily comes true. Less than a month afterwards Ivo gets a new role in the documentary series "Germany In".
As of 2021, Ivo Kirkov is attending school and is still filming in the last season of Stolen Life (2016).
