Palak Kour Bijral

Palak Kour Bijral (born 15 November 1996) is an Indian individual rhythmic gymnast. She represents her nation at international competitions. She competed at world championships, including at the 2013 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. In 2014 she competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Her father introduced her to gymnastics when she was five to improve her posture, flexibility, and body shape. Bijral trained 6-8 hours a day; a typical schedule included an early get up, then choreography and practice. An open practice at the gym until 2 p.m. and a second practice in afternoon lasting until 9 p.m.
She made her international debut competing on the novice level at the 2008 at 4th Children Of Asia International Games, Russia . Palak's life changed in 2008 while she was 12. She got her first international opportunity to represent India at the 4th Children of Asia International games held at Yakutsk, Mirny, Neryungri (Russia). Palak was the only player to be selected from the state as she was elected by the Federation of India.
This was just the start in her career and over the years, she made India proud on several occasions. After participating in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, she returned to her home country with immense love and applause. Reminiscing the golden memories, she got nostalgic when the former chief minister of J&K, Mr Omar Abdullah felicitated her with the Sher-i-Kashmir Sports Award for the year 2014-15 with a cash award and a memento.
