There are many actors whose public image will forever be defined by one iconic role. Al Pacino and Michael Corleone. Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter. Zac Efron and Troy Bolton.
To millions of millennials and zoomers, Zachary David Alexander Efron will forever be associated with his role as Troy in Disney’s “High School Musical” trilogy of TV films. A cultural phenomenon that remains a beloved nostalgic favorite today, the franchise made Efron a teen idol at 18, and “The Iron Claw” star’s performance as romantic lead Troy forever defined his public image moving forward: an impossibly earnest sweetheart jock, the type of high school heartthrob that could only exist in a Disney version of reality.
A straight to TV movie musical for tweens isn’t the most prestigious way to begin your career, but Efron, for his part, has mostly spoken fondly about the experience in the years since.

Get'cha head in the game! Troy Bolton was good at two things during his reign as the superstar athlete in High School Musical — basketball and singing. Yet, Zac Efron, who is known for playing the role of Troy, didn't actually sing in the first High School Musical movie. Basically, he just lip-synced to another singer's voice and the world took it as his own. Zac has since owned up to the fact that it was a singer by the name of Drew Seeley whose voice HSM fanatics fell in love with and not his. In an old interview, he explained that he had to actually "fight" to get his vocals on the second and third movies' soundtracks. "In the first movie, after everything was recorded, my voice was not on them. I was not really given an explanation. It just kind of happened that way. Unfortunately, it put me in an awkward position.

“That was, like, the most depressing part about it. He wasn’t there, and I was, like, this heartbroken 10-year-old,” Jackson recalled.

Like most kids, Paris Jackson was a big High School Musical fan.
The daughter of Michael Jackson revealed to Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon that she was “heartbroken” when she went to her first concert.
“The first concert that I actively wanted to see was High School Musical Live,” Paris, 18, shared on Monday’s episode.
But the HSM event wasn’t as great as she thought it would be, all because the Disney Channel movie’s leading man, Zac Efron, was absent from the concert due to another film project.

While it’s an effortless process for some people to believe they create their own destiny, others prefer to rely on their faith and embark on an inspirational journey to discover how to best live their lives. In the process of witnessing the triumphs of others, the heroic protagonist in the new comedy-drama, ‘Yellow Day,’ faces his own fears. Along the way, he also tests the strength of both his faith and courage, as he sets out to fulfill his destiny in his romantic and professional lives. The sentimental examination of faith, hope and love fuels the family movie, which marks the feature film directorial debut of veteran television helmer, Carl [ Read More ]

Richard Madden: Game of Thrones’ King of the North to play Prince Charming in Cinderella Richard Madden, Game of Thrones‘ King of the North Robb Stark, has been cast as Prince Charming in Disney’s live-action retelling of the Cinderella fairy-tale. A few days ago, Lily James (Wrath of the Titans, Downton Abbey) was announced as the actress to try on Cinderella’s tiny glass slippers. The other major Cinderella cast member announced so far is Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett (Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator), who’ll play the evil Lady Tremaine, Cinderella’s wicked stepmother — perhaps with shades of Queen Elizabeth I? Cinderella follows in the (sizable) footsteps of other fairy-tales that have reached the world’s screens in recent years: Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010), starring Mia Wasikowska as Alice and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, grossed $1.02 billion worldwide. Ah, the TV movie. That last bastion of campy shlock and overly sentimental schmaltz that allows out of work TV actors the chance to return to the medium that made them a star. But what is a fan of the camp to do when two air on the same night? How does one choose? With Sunday night's (April 21) traffic jam of "Lovestruck: The Musical" on ABC Family and "Remember Sunday" on ABC, only one can claim victory and earn your attention in 2013's first Battle of the TV Movie.
Zap2It had the opportunity to screen both films prior to their premieres and, judging them head-to-head in four categories, we're ready to declare a winner. (Warning: The following contains minor spoilers. If you're not into that sort of thing -- stop reading now.)

While browsing the used DVD rack at my local video store, I came across something called I Kissed a Vampire. A little over two years old, the film's cover art featured some gothed-out teenagers with fangs posed like a Harlequin romance cover, and the box blurb read something along the lines of "It's a love child between Glee and Twilight!"
How's a girl to resist?
I had never heard of this project before, but apparently it was a popular web series in its heyday and it garnered quite a following of pre-teen musical fans. The timing of it couldn't have been more impeccable, and if the film had been pitched in the early 2000s, it likely wouldn't have gotten greenlit at all. But the producers and creators struck while the iron was hot...

No, I’m not pulling a belated April Fool’s Day prank on you — there’s really a movie called “I Kissed a Vampire”, and the director’s name is Chris Nolan. Don’t believe me? Check out his IMDb page. I promise I’m not messing with you. The film is a self-proclaimed “rock musical,”, one that happens to be based on a television program I’ve never seen. Since this thing wasn’t crafted for anyone over the age of seven, I guess it’s a good thing I’m ignorant of the franchise. Here’s a needlessly verbose synopsis: Haunted by bizarre dreams about goth rocker Trey Sylvania (Drew Seeley), with a growing lust for blood, Dylan (Lucas Grabeel) is not your average teenager-he’s transforming into a vampire! It all started when he was bitten by a voracious fanged exchange student, and it’s a process...

It's been months and months since we last provided an update on the rock musical I Kissed a Vampire, but word came today that the film has a brand new trailer and is being released at the end of this month. Read on for the details.
Synopsis:
In the vein of High School Musical, a desperate teen tries to save himself and the girl he loves after discovering he's transforming into a vampire. Haunted by bizarre dreams about Goth rocker Trey Sylvania (Drew Seeley) and experiencing a growing lust for blood, Dylan (Lucas Grabeel), a not-so-average teenager, finds himself transforming into a vampire! It all started when he was bitten by a voracious fanged exchange student, and it's a process he is desperate to stop - but how? His demented dentist can't do anything about Dylan's aching teeth and emerging fangs, and the anti-bloodsucking pills he gets from his para-psychologist just give him a rash.
