"Game of Thrones" had its share of recastings -- they were inevitable with a production and an ensemble as sprawling as the show had. The series had two Daario Naharises (Ed Skrein and then Michiel Huisman) and three Gregor Cleganes. After season 2, "Game of Thrones" also recast both of the younger Lannister-Baratheon siblings, Myrcella (Aimée Richardson and then future "First Omen" star Nell Tiger Free) and King Tommen (Callum Wharry and Dean Charles Chapman). Even Daenerys Targaryen was played by Tamzin Merchant, not Emilia Clarke, in the unaired (and then remade) "Game of Thrones" pilot.
One "Game of Thrones" recasting might have slipped your notice, though, because both successive actors were buried beneath make-up. That recasting would be the Night King, leader of the undead White Walkers. In seasons 4 and 5, the Night King was played by Welsh actor Richard Brake; you might recognize him as Joe Chill (murderer of Bruce Wayne's parents) from "Batman Begins,...

They say, “What goes around comes around,” and in the wild west of Yellowstone, that rings especially true. Characters are constantly strutting in and out of the Duttons’ lives like it’s a country dance hall. Just when we thought we could kick back and enjoy the chaos, Season 5 Part 2 is gearing up to toss us some curveballs!

Now, let’s get straight to the point: will Eden Brolin return as Mia? The daughter of Hollywood heavyweight Josh Brolin has been a familiar face since Season 3, leaving her mark as Jimmy Hurdstrom’s (Jefferson White) love interest after they crossed paths at a rodeo.
So, what’s the latest buzz on Mia’s potential comeback? It’s the burning question on everyone’s lips. While some fan-favorite characters are set to ride off into the sunset, the chatter around Mia’s return has taken center stage.

Isn’t it funny how life throws curveballs that shake up everything only to clear the path for something better? Take Taylor Sheridan, for instance. This remarkable storyteller may not have exited Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy on the best terms, but that twist of fate opened the door to greener pastures—or, more accurately, vast Montana landscapes with a side of high-stakes drama.
Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone | Credit: Paramount
After donning his leather jacket and stepping into the shoes of David Hale on Sons of Anarchy, things took a nosedive. Sheridan’s journey on the show didn’t wrap up with a grand finale; instead, it felt like a bumpy ride through a pothole-ridden road, complete with frustrations over creative differences. Rather than stew in disappointment, Sheridan decided to take the bull by the horns and pivot to writing.

If we wanted the action and harrowing moments, 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Episode 3 delivered.
In keeping with the previous installments, 9-1-1: Lone Star capitalized on this cast and these characters we adore by expanding the focus a bit while still staying true.
The action of the train derailment reached its height during an hour that saw triumphant rescues and some tragedy.
(Fox/Screenshot) The Lieutenant Race Marks a Refreshing Guard Change
The lieutenant race was interesting because we had two highly qualified individuals competing with one another for a position that they both earned and would be great.
Interestingly enough, we saw how great Marjan was, and they made a strong case for why she would be the right woman for the job as she took charge during 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Episode 2.

What’s going on with Netflix‘s “The Abandons“? On paper, the Western series has the potential to be a big hit for the streamer: an all-star cast featuring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson; a sprawling Western epic in a similar vein to “Yellowstone“; and “Sons Of Anarchy” alum Kurt Sutter helming the project. But as of this week, Deadline reports Sutter is off “The Abandons” with one episode left to film in Calgary, with executive producers Otto Bathurst and Rob Askins overseeing the rest of filming.

Showrunner and creator Kurt Sutter is no longer involved with his new Netflix series The Abandons.
The actor, writer, director and producer (who famously worked on and starred in Sons of Anarchy) was serving as an executive producer on the show, which is a Western starring the likes of Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson.
News of his departure comes with an alleged three weeks left of production, and sources have hinted at what sparked the decision.

Netflix and creator Kurt Sutter have parted ways on the streamer’s western The Abandons.
Sutter, who created the drama and was serving as showrunner, left the show over creative differences with Netflix. The Abandons, set in the Oregon Territory in the 1850s, has a few weeks of production on its season remaining and will continue filming in Calgary, Alberta.
Netflix declined comment.
Netflix gave a straight-to-series order to The Abandons in October 2022. Shocking news from Netflix today, as controversial showrunner Kurt Sutter has abruptly departed his new series The Abandons.
The show is reportedly in the final weeks of production on its first season.
Perhaps Kurt took the title a bit too literally?
According to a report from Deadline, the departure “is believed to stem from creative differences over the direction of the big-scale production as it is wrapping filming and headed into post.” (Photo by Rich Polk/Getty Images for IMDb)
Sutter, who’s best known for his work on Sons of Anarchy, is famous for his commitment to his singular artistic vision.
That makes him a bit of an awkward fit at Netflix, where execs have a reputation for micromanaging.
Today’s Deadline report claims that Sutter clashed with his streaming bosses over the running time of The Abandons’ pilot.
Sutter’s cut of the episode allegedly clocked in at one hour and forty minutes.

If you are looking forward to Kurt Sutter's upcoming Netflix original Western drama series The Abandons, the latest update on the series probably isn't what you want to hear. Sutter has officially stepped down as executive producer and showrunner on the series mere weeks before the first season was set to wrap filming. No one saw that coming!
According to a report from Deadline, the reason behind Sutter's sudden departure from The Abandons has to do with "creative differences" regarding the direction of the series. As the outlet explains, Netflix wasn't on board with a cut of the seven-episode series' first episode, which clocked in with a 100-minute runtime.
Following the discovery of the movie-length pilot episode, the plan moving forward was to split the first episode into two episodes. That called for the creation of a newly written cliffhanger and additional scenes to allow both episodes to stand on their own.

Deadline reports that Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has exited The Abandons just three weeks before production on the first season of the Netflix series was slated to wrap. As always, the reason apparently comes down to those dreaded creative differences.
The report states that Netflix was concerned when the initial cut of the first episode came in at 1 hour and 40 minutes. It proved impossible to trim the episode down to an hour, so they decided it should be split into two. This required some additional scenes to create a cliffhanger for the new premiere, which have reportedly been written but not shot. After viewing the unfinished split episodes and part of the third, Netflix felt they “looked a bit disjointed and not propulsive enough.” A meeting between Netflix execs and Sutter to address the concerns didn’t take place before he departed.

Kurt Sutter has left his new Netflix show, according to multiple media reports. The showrunner best known for creating “Sons of Anarchy” departed “The Abandons” three weeks before production was scheduled to wrap in Calgary.
The upcoming Western drama stars Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson. Its executive producer and director Otto Bathurst as well as its co-exec producer Rob Askins will oversee the rest of the shoot. No new showrunner has been named. It’s been reported that the departure came down to creative differences.
TheWrap reached out to Netflix and representatives for Sutter for comment.
Set in the 1850s, “The Abandons” follows Fiona Nolan (Headey), a devout Irish woman who is incapable of conceiving a child. Believing in a higher purpose, she tries to build a family by adopting four orphans. But it isn’t long before she begins to face hardship after European aristocrats claim possession of her new home in Oregon.

Kurt Sutter has departed his upcoming Netflix Western series “The Abandons” just weeks before production on the series is scheduled to end, Variety has confirmed with sources.

It was originally ordered to series at Netflix in October 2022 and was first reported to be in development at the streaming giant back in November 2021.
Reps for Netflix declined to comment, but sources say that Sutter’s exit from the show came over creative differences after Netflix saw a rough cut of the first episodes. Sorry, Ripley fans. This Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 review is going to be hard on him.
He spent most of the hour trying to sacrifice his career to protect Scully, only to berate Asher when she refused.
Yes, Scully was dying, but how did Ripley going to jail in his place help anything? This nonsense was more proof that this story needs to go away already.

Ripley’s career was in danger, but Ripley didn’t seem to care very much about that, which made it hard for me to care, either.
This whole Pawel story has been weak. Ripley was going to fight because the guy was a compulsive liar who got away with too much crap, then settled as soon as the going got tough.

As a Stephen King fan, I always enjoy seeing the bestselling author pop up in cameo appearances. Over the years, King has made plenty of cameos, and even done some full-blown acting, like when he played doomed farmer Jordy Verrill in "Creepshow." For the most part, King tends to cameo in projects adapted directly from his work. But every now and then, the master of horror will put in an appearance in someone else's material. He did a guest voice spot (as himself) on "The Simpsons," he shows up in the rom-com "Fever Pitch," and he was even on "Frasier" once. If you ask King, his best acting work isn't in a Stephen King project at all. No, according to the author, his "finest moment" was when he showed up on the hit TV series "Sons of Anarchy."

The sprawling vistas of Yellowstone National Park with its majestic wildlife and the iconic figure of John Dutton overseeing it all—it’s a scene that has become synonymous with gripping drama and Kevin Costner’s indelible portrayal. Trying to imagine Yellowstone without Costner is akin to picturing the Dutton ranch devoid of its defining cattle herds—a scenario that loyal fans of the series find nearly inconceivable.
The cliffhanger that concluded Yellowstone season 5 part 1, has left fans filled with speculation & concern. Could the series truly capture its essence without Costner’s presence as the patriarch? Rumors of scheduling conflicts and behind-the-scenes turmoil have only fueled the fire of curiosity.

Taylor Sheridan was just a struggling actor when he first ventured into the land of entertainment. Getting small parts here and there, the actor eventually landed one of his prominent roles to date, Deputy David Hale in FX’s Sons of Anarchy. However, his character was unceremoniously killed off, despite being a fan favorite.

Plot: In season three, a series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.
Review: Twelve months after his near-fatal accident, Jeremy Renner began production on the third season of Mayor of Kingstown. Seeing the Avengers star back on his feet and in character as Mike McLusky is an impressive sight as he slips back into his character’s rumpled suit and takes charge of the various factions, criminal and non, in the Michigan city. It’s been a few years since Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter first announced The Abandons, but the Western series has finally started shooting. Netflix announced the start of production of the first season of The Abandons in Calgary, with an official cast photo seen above.
The official logline for The Abandons reads: “As a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, ‘justice’ is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law. The Abandons will explore that fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence, and the corrosive power of secrets, as this family fights to keep their land.“

Today, Netflix announced the start of production in Calgary on Season 1 of The Abandons, a pulse-pounding action drama set in the West by Kurt Sutter via his SutterInk banner.
“I am fascinated by the metamorphosis of good into evil. What must transpire to drive the morally sound to become the dangerously corrupt,” said Sutter. “The Abandons explores those complex compromises through the most powerful human instinct — the love and protection of mothers.”

Although the Shameless actress Katey Sagal now enjoys an envious career, following her appearance in popular television shows, she once faced the common challenge of being typecast in Hollywood. After her iconic role as Peg Bundy on the hit sitcom Married… with Children (1987-1997) cemented her status in Hollywood, the show also confined her to the specific genre of comedy.
Katey Sagal as Peg Bundy on Married… with Children (1987-1997)
While the world considers Katey Sagal a versatile actress with great range, she recalled how Married… with Children typecast her in the industry. Although the show initially came as a blessing, following her 4 months of sobriety, Sagal recalled getting a sinking feeling about her career, as she kept getting repetitive roles after starring as Peg. But eventually, Sons of Anarchy came as her true savior, as the show pulled her out of the typecast misery and allowed her to explore her dramatic side.

A breath of fresh air for traditional commercial television was Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, especially in an era when streaming services and binge-worthy content ruled the television landscape.
If you enjoy vintage badass Westerns with lots of revolvers and hard-boiled cowboys, you have probably heard of, if not seen, Paramount’s neo-Western drama series. Fans of the genre will find much to enjoy in this gripping drama series that brings back the glamour of Hollywood’s golden era into the present day.

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is undergoing yet another behind-the-scenes change. Albert Kim, who served as showrunner for Season 1, is stepping down ahead of Season 2, passing his responsibilities to Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani.
As for Kim, he’s leaping from one adaptation of a beloved children’s franchise to another; he recently signed on to join Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians as an executive producer for its upcoming second season. He isn’t leaving the Avatar world entirely, however, as he’ll remain on board as an EP.

Tom Ripley is one of literature’s great con men, and Andrew Scott is a perfect choice to play him. The Fleabag and Sherlock actor is charming and has a sophisticated air… and yet there’s something a little off about him. (Even when he played a priest in Fleabag, he had a mischievous glint in his eye.) He slips effortlessly into the title role in Netflix’s Ripley — all eight episodes are now streaming; I’ve seen the first four — and the lush black-and-white cinematography is a joy to behold. Exclusive: Kurt Sutter and Katey Sagal have teamed up for their first podcast, Pie. People. Influences. Experiences. The program will start April 2, available on all podcast players and YouTube.

Aspiring television writer Brian Beneker, whose credits as a script coordinator go back more than 20 years, isn’t the only straight white male to feel that he was being shut out of a writing job because of diversity initiatives. But so far he appears to be the only one willing to seek out Stephen Miller’s America First Legal foundation, associating himself with a Trump world figure who is particularly loathed by progressives.
With his lawsuit against CBS and Paramount alleging that he faced discrimination when he did not get a staff writing job on the CBS military drama Seal Team, Beneker has become a vehicle through which Miller is waging his war on diversity and inclusion efforts in the entertainment industry. In doing so, Beneker has defined himself in a way that is likely to stick. Reached by phone, he declined to comment, as did his attorneys.
