"Verbal and Icarus" are an LA-based hip-hop/soul duo consisting of Alabama-born singer Brandon Scott aka Icarus V. And Brooklyn-born rapper Malcolm Barrett aka Verbal the Rapper. The pair met studying acting at NYU, before pursuing an acting career in LA and later forming a group. Scott worked on solo projects and created the alias Icarus V. Daedalus, later shortened to Icarus V once he teamed with Verbal The Rapper, to create Verbal + Icarus (fka Sin City). They've released two albums: the moody The Sin City LP (2012) & the melodic and energetic Fun House (2018). Icarus released a solo EP entitled Eternity (2016) with his production group Audio Drone, while Verbal previously released his solo LP The Backpacker's Guide to the Galaxy through JusBaba Baby music. Their music has been featured in numerous film, TV, and web series. Their first appearance as a group was on Black and Sexy's "Hello, Cupid" individually they are accomplished actors. Scott may be better known for his lead work in shows like "Grey's Anatomy," "This Is Us," "Dead To Me," etc. while Barrett may be better known for roles in the Oscar-winning "The Hurt Locker," "Better Off Ted," "Preacher" and the cult fan fan favorite "Timeless," among others. Amidst a decades-long friendship, a band, and solo careers, they also founded, along with their friends, a non-profit theatre company called Ammunition Theatre Company focusing on new work, underutilized voices, and community philanthropy.
