Mike Wong, born September 22, 1993, in Scarborough, Ontario is a Toronto-based filmmaker of Chinese Hong Kong descent with over 10+ years of experience telling stories through the art of directing and editing films. Growing up, Mike fell in love with watching movies - not necessarily for their entertainment value, but for the complex process of how a film is delivered from a storyboard concept to a motion picture.
Mike's passion for filmmaking developed in high school, where he would volunteer his expertise in graphical work for his school community by creating posters, commercials, and short films for various events. Moreover, Mike graduated with Honours and Presidential recognition from the Toronto Film School (TFS) with a Diploma in Film Production. Throughout his time at TFS, he participated in several student thesis films and took on roles such as a Cinematographer, Colourist, Picture Editor, and VFX Artist. His knowledge from studying Film Production exposed him to different departments which helped diversify his talents and skills in being a highly versatile filmmaker.
Mike was born with an entrepreneurial zest where he founded and opened his own production company, Mikejeffwong Productions Inc., in 2019. His production company, which holds 10+ crew members, has done commercial campaigns and promotional ads for many national start-up organizations. Moreover, Mike has directed, produced, and edited several award-winning indie-short films - of which some were officially recognized by the Toronto 48-Hour Film Festival.
Apart from work, Mike is a huge advocate for travelling, especially with his Onewheel, and explores as much as he can in seeking inspiration, fulfillment, and stories to tell.
