José Irizarry is a screenwriter and film director. Irizarry graduated with a BA in Film (Film and Media Production) from Arizona State University and is pursuing a Master's in Fine Arts in TV and Screenwriting at Stephens College, with an expected graduation date of May 2026.
Irizarry's capstone film at ASU, Big Hero, was accepted by nine film festivals in 2022, winning the Best Student Film award at the Florence Film Awards, the Silver Award for a Student Film at the Hollywood Gold Awards, and an Honorable Mention for a Student Film at the New York Movie Awards. In addition to Big Hero, Irizarry directed four other short student films at ASU, worked with Arizona local filmmaker Beau Yotty as a production assistant, grip, and actor, and volunteered at the 2019 Phoenix Film Festival as a Filmmaker Liaison.
Irizarry received the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) award for their 2021 and 2022 Media Summits, which were held consecutively.
