The last performance episode of “America’s Got Talent” Season 18 aired on Tuesday, September 26 with the 11 finalists taking the stage for America’s votes. Everything seemed to be going according to plan until it came to the second act of the night, Mzansi Youth Choir. Following their high-energy performance of “My Universe” by BTS and Coldplay, Howie Mandel was booed by the live studio audience when he declared it “wasn’t [his] favorite.” Do You agree with Howie? Or were you more in the camp of Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara, who had nothing but praises for the South African chorale group? Watch the “AGT” video above.
Howie started out his critic by telling them, “I love you,” and that they’re one of his “favorite choirs ever in the history of ‘AGT.'” He went on to say, “I was so moved when you first came on. [But] if this was the album,...

Things got a bit chaotic on Tuesday (September 19) night’s episode of America’s Got Talent as Howie Mandel caused more red X button drama, which led to Simon Cowell apologizing to one of the acts. The incident happened while Nashville singing duo Trailer Flowers were on stage performing their original song, “Who You Are.” Midway through the act, Mandel leaned over and sneakily pressed Heidi Klum‘s red X button. However, with the show being live, the cameras didn’t pick up the button push, so host Terry Crews had to come out and clarify what had happened. The producers then aired an alternate shot that showed Mandel hitting Klum’s buzzer. “I would not press my buzzer in the semi-finals,” Mandel lied, despite everyone seeing the proof for themselves. Mandel has previously come under criticism for hitting the red X on Phil Wright & Parent Jam, the Sharpe Family Singers,...

During the September 19 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” things got spicy at the judges’ table when Simon Cowell scolded the show’s producers on live television. It all started when Howie Mandel pressed Heidi Klum‘s red X during the vocal performance of “Who You Are” by Nashville singing duo Trailer Flowers. Being a live show, the actual button push wasn’t caught on camera, but when host Terry Crews came out to clarify what happened, the producers played a clip of Howie sneakily pressing Heidi’s red buzzer. Watch the “AGT” moment in the video above.
“I would not press my buzzer in the semi-finals,” Howie falsely declared, despite the proof being shown on camera. Of course, Howie was not being completely genuine because he had previously X’ed Phil Wright & Parent Jam, Sharpe Family Singers and Ray Wold & Mom during this season’s live shows, and received some flack for it online.

“America’s Got Talent” continued the live shows of its 18th season on September 5 with the third round of performances in the “Qualifiers.” On Tuesday night’s show, 11 acts performed for America’s vote and only two of them will advance to “The Finals” when the results are delivered by Terry Crews on Wednesday night. Before that happens, we can reveal that Your favorite act of the night was singer/pianist Putri Ariani, as voted on by viewers in Gold Derby’s overnight poll.
Putri had the honor of closing out Tuesday’s performance show as the final act to make their case for a spot in the finale. She entered this round with a leg up on many of her competitors because she received Simon Cowell‘s Golden Buzzer back in her audition. The other Golden Buzzer to perform in the “Qualifiers 3” week was chorale group Mzansi Youth Choir, who...

This summer, “America’s Got Talent” returned for its 18th season with Terry Crews resuming his hosting duties and Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara once again making up the judges panel. As in the past, this year’s champion will take home a $1 million cash prize and be able to showcase their talent as a headlining act in Las Vegas. Only 55 acts get to perform in the “AGT” Qualifiers to compete for America’s vote and hopefully move one step closer to the finale.

This week “America’s Got Talent” season 18 continued the second stage of the competition, known as “Qualifiers.” In this round, 55 acts are divided into five groups for five weeks of performances, all in the hopes of advancing to The Finals. While series judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are still around to offer their support and critique of the acts, the power is out of their hands and rests all in America’s vote. Only two acts from each of the five qualifying groups will win over America and earn a spot in the “AGT” finale.
In “Qualifiers 1” on August 22, Sofia’s Golden Buzzer singer Lavender Darcangelo and dog act Adrian Stoica & Hurricane were the two acts that America sent through to “The Finals.”

Premiering on October 25, 1997, Under Wraps was the inaugural Disney Channel Original Movie. The cornerstone of the network’s programming proved to be as close to appointment viewing as it got for ‘90s kids, along with the likes of ABC’s Tgif and Nickelodeon’s Snick. Moreover, Under Wraps served as a gateway to horror for many millennials. Before the age of streaming, catching a mummy movie on the same channel where you watched Disney cartoons and Boy Meets World reruns could have been your first exposure to the macabre.
Disney attempted to recapture the magic with last year’s Under Wraps remake. The original movie was successful — and continues to hold up 25 years later — for several reasons; relatable kid leads, a great Halloween atmosphere, and a sense of humor chief among them. Director/co-writer Alex Zamm and co-writer William Robertson (Inspector Gadget 2) smartly maintained those elements for the new iteration.

Disney Channel’s original 1997 version of Under Wraps had many of the elements family comedies need: three cute and precocious leads, a fun-loving mummy and plenty of funny moments. There was just one thing missing — diversity.
All of the movie’s leading characters were white. But the revamped Under Wraps, which premieres tonight at 8/7c on the Disney Channel, shakes all of that up with an inclusive cast that incorporates more people of color. Two roles that were initially played by men are now filled by women, and one lead has same-sex parents.

Mummies may be par for the course on Halloween, but when the Disney Channel gets involved, the undead creatures take on a life of their own. Just on time for the holiday comes “Under Wraps,” a movie about a 4000-year-old mummy named Harold (Phil Wright) who is brought back to life by three friends.
Since Harold speaks only through a series of grunts, Wright’s expertise as a dancer and choreographer were key as he uses physicality to help define the character. Writer and director Alex Zamm provided Wright with a personal reference when describing how he envisioned the role, recounting when his son was “a constipated toddler who would walk in this way, lumbering forward, teetering always off balance.”
Beyond Zamm’s son, physical comedians like Harpo Marx and Lucille Ball became touchstones of Harold’s development.

The Disney Channel is remaking its first original movie—the comedic classic 1997 Halloween movie, Under Wraps.
The film stars Christian J. Simon (Gilbert), Sophia Hammons (Amy), and Malachi Barton (Marshall), as three 12-year-old friends who accidentally awaken a mummy. They affectionately name him Harold and must rush to return him to his resting place before midnight on Halloween.
The trio narrowly escapes a group of criminals intent on selling the mummy to the highest bidder. When Harold is inevitably captured, Marshall, Gilbert, and Amy must band together to stand up to the criminals, face their fears, and rescue their new—but “ancient”—friend.
Also starring in the film is Phil Wright as Harold, the mummy. Alex Zamm directed and wrote Under Wraps.
The film was just as fun as the original but added many modern and hilarious twists. It will be a new Halloween favorite.
