There is so much dead air in this gloomy love tale that it seemingly takes a fortnight of screen time to watch its central lovers barely make it through a year of a tempestuous relationship. Where many a modern film pours on the imagery and moves at a swifter pace, writer-director Chris McKay's feature debut banks on one being mesmerized by the lead actors.
"2wks, 1yr" is also fragmented in a nonlinear fashion in what amounts to mumbo-jumbo, unless one is dazzled by Krissy Shields as Julie and Michael Gilio, who as Kevin is often ill-served by the poorly shot imagery.
After an hour, this flick isn't such a great thrill to sit through. Shields and Gilio have less than volcanic chemistry. Often one's attention wanders, and one ends up caring little about the probably incompatible leads.
