Alan P. MacLeod (formerly of Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Designer, Art Director, Set Decorator, Set Dresser, Props Master, 1st Assistant Props Master and Songwriter based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Alan's first paid film job was on the 1986 on the feature film Life Classes (1987) as a Driver/PA/Assistant Grip. Before settling in the Art Department in the 1990's, he worked as Location Sound Mixer, ADR Engineer, Mix Engineer, LX, Grip and Dolly Grip on projects of all sizes in Nova Scotia. His background in other departments informed his approach to dressing sets. He has one Gemini Award Nomination for Pit Pony (1997) (Series) and has won three Craft Awards for Design /Decoration from the Atlantic Film Festival for Growing Op (2008) (Feature Film); Baba's House (2002) (1/2 Hr. Drama) and Beefcake (1998) (Feature Film). He was President & Vice President of IATSE Local 849. Alan initiated and co-wrote the first edition of Nova Scotia's Film and TV Health and Safety Guidelines and for 16 years, developed and facilitated Film Set Safety Courses for The Nova Scotia Community College Screen Arts Program. His film work finances his "addiction/habit" of composing and recording songs for film placement via his website: alanmacleod.ca. His original recording of "Here and Now" is the featured end credit song of the award winning film The Disappeared (2012).
