Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal took his last breath on the 12th of September 1971 due to cirrhosis of the liver, a disease caused by excessive consumption of alcohol.

The popular song of that era 'Aei Pyaase Dil Bezubaan' from 'Begunaah' was picturised on him.

Before entering the music industry, he worked as a carpenter.

He wanted to be an actor. This was his prime motivation for moving to Mumbai. He even got the chance of acting in two films - 'Shri 420' (1955) & 'Begunaah' (1957).
