Vardan Hakobyan is an Armenia-based assistant director, producer, and festival coordinator. He received a degree in film directing at Armen Film Studio in 1999, and audited director Vigen Chaldranyan's classes on film directing from 2000-2002. In 2008 Vardan participated in the film school of CIS and Baltic countries as a film director. Starting from 1999 Vardan has been working in professional filmmaking in different capacities. He was an assistant director to more than 17 Armenian and International feature film productions and a producer to several short films. In 2003 he made his first short film "The City," which received a special prize "Hope" at Golden Apricot IFF. From 2007 to 2018 Vardan has been working at Golden Apricot International Film Festival as a co-founder and coordinator for the short film competition "Apricot Stone." From 2015 has been collaborating with several TV channels in Armenia as a director for TV series, documentary films, and TV shows. Since 2018 he has been working at Kinoket production as a creative director.
